FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
I AM 7 DAYS POST OP. WENT TODAY AND HAD STAPLES REMOVED AND HAD HORMONE BLOOD LEVELS DRAWN. THIS IS GOING TO SOUND REALLY STRANGE I THINK BUT, IVE BEEN SLEEPING ON MY STOMACH SINCE THE DAY I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL EVEN WITH THE STAPLES IN. I HAVE ALWAYS SAID I HAD A "B" TYPE PERSONALITY BUT IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS I HAVE HAD SO MUCH ENERGY I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF. MAYBE ITS THE NEW HORMONES. AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT ALL I THINK ABOUT IS SEX. EVERYTHING DOWN THERE IS YELLING I WANT SOME STIMULATION. SORRY TO BE SO GRAPHIC! NEEDLESS TO SAY IM NOT GOING THERE YET!! AFTER MY DRS APPT TODAY I WENT TO COSTCO WITH A FRIEND AND THEN GROCERY SHOPPING. DIDNT PUSH THE CART OR CARRY ANYTHING. THEN WENT TO PIER 1 LOOKING AT FURNATURE AND OUT TO LUNCH! I LEFT MY APT AT 10AM AND DIDNT RETURN TILL AFTER 6PM. MY MIND IS STILL GOING A MILE A MINUTE BUT MY BODY IS SO SORE RIGHT NOW I WANT TO CRY. OK I OVER DID IT! TOMORROW IM DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT RESTING. I E-MAILED MY BOSS TODAY AND TOLD HIM I MAY COME BACK TO WORK PART TIME IN A WEEK OR SO IF I CAN FIND A RIDE! AM I CRAZY? DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE THIS 1 WEEK POST OP? AMY

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
I haven't done anything like you've done as far as activity, but I do feel good considering I've had major surgery. Sure, I feel the tingling, etc. at the incision, but I don't feel really bad like I thought I would. I keep asking myself, "I've had major surgery....why don't I feel terrible?" Hopefully I won't pay for it later. I am careful about what I do, but do feel like I'm doing more than I should.

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
THINGS TO DO: Take your pain meds on schedule... don't be a macho woman, the prescription says: *as needed*. You NEED it so your body can forget about hurting & work on healing. Write down your medication schedule if you get confused or are worried about addiction. Ask your doc if you should take extra vitamins or minerals to help your recovery.
Drink lots of fluids, eat healthy foods, watch tv, watch movies, read, do crossword puzzles, do needlework, put all those photos in albums or scrapbooks, make out xmas lists, WALK!!, talk on phone, chat online, shop online, browse the internet for new recipes, WALK!!, investigate a new hobby or interest online, play cards or board games w/ your family/friends, do a jigsaw puzzle, try out some new software you've been interested in, WALK!!, sit outside & enjoy the sunshine.
THINGS NOT TO DO: Lift anything over 10 lbs. (this includes small humans, large pets & laundry baskets), vacuum (I may NEVER vacuum again.. hee hee!), push a shopping cart, move furniture, housework (bribe someone else into doing it or close your eyes), or mow the lawn.
DO NOT visit your place of employment during your medical leave (then they want you to come BACK!).
This is major surgery, and you only have one chance to heal RIGHT. At 6 weeks post-op, you are only 40% healed. At 6 months post-op, you are 100% healed.
Feel better!

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
A word of caution here.
Tomorrow I will be 4 wks. post op. I felt better than I would have ever imagined the first 2 wks. after surgery. Going into week 3, when internal stitches started to dissolve I started to feel worse than the day I came home (2 days post op). I feel okay, but nothing like I did the first 2 wks. I am tired more now, and also tend to feel sore by the evening (think cuz I am up more during the day now).
So don't think because you feel good this week you will feel good next week. Every day with recovery is different depending on what your body is experiencing. I know that when the stitches started dissolving my abdominal muscles started to rebel that they had to work on their own again without support.
Take it slow and one day at a time. Your body will thank you for it!

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
Hi,
I am 2 weeks post-op and other than soreness around the incision I have also felt pretty good the whole time. I was kind of afraid that the shoe would drop at a later time. I still have not done anything and I don't think I will until 3 weeks. I walk daily and that's it. Hope you continue to feel great.

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
Amy Sue, I hope you will go and read my post "Warning anger Ahead". I felt as good as you did the first couple of weeks and not bad after that. But, and this is a big But, I got really ambitious, drove to work just to pick up my paycheck, decided I felt so good I could work half a day. Went back to work at less than 4 weeks, not full time, worked up to full time over the next 2 weeks because I was running out of sick leave and vacation and there was no way I could claim disability. At the same time, I was doing more at home. After 6 week check up dr said I could do whatever, and I did.
Now, at almost 4 months, I am so tired and also mad at myself for rushing things. I could have taken a couple of weeks without pay and we would have survived. But, once you take those back to work (at home and outside), it is really hard to convince others, and even yourself, that it is okay to go back a couple of steps.
Luckily, we had scheduled a 2 week vacation for the middle of November, so I will be doing less, except for walking, so I may get a chance to rest up some more.
Even if you look good and feel good, there is a lot going on inside. Believe me, my insides remind me every night when I come home from work!
So take it easy!!!

Had Addominal Sub total on November 1st
I had my surgery last Wednesday November 1st and came home from hospital on Saturday. The staples were removed before I came home.
I'm feeling really good and I'm having trouble sitting still - but I'm forcing myself. I am going up and down stairs 'cause my house has 3 floors but other than that, the most strenuous thing I'm doing is surfing the Net.
I'm really not feeling any pain - just a feeling of tightness across my abdomen but it does really hurt when I cough! My Dr. said I'd feel really tired but that hasn't kicked in yet.
For anyone about to go for surgery - it will all be over before you know it - my surgery was at 9 am and I was out of recovery and into my room by about 12:30pm. Just liquids for a couple of days but I really wasn't hungry. They get you out of bed the following morning and I found that I felt better if I stayed up and walked around a bit rather than going back to bed.

FEELING TO GOOD ONE WEEK POST OP!
I do!!!! Had surgery 10/25/00. By 10/29/00 feeling great. Little, if any discomfort. All stitches are on the inside and they used some kind of adhesive to close. You need to look real hard to see the scar. All bruising etc. was gone by the 30th. I can't beleive how good I feel. Still taking it easy because I do not want any problems down the road.
But once they told me I could get out of bed (the day after) I was off and running. Waiting for the other shoe to drop because everyone I talked to said I would be a mess for weeks. Great to hear you're doing so well also!
