What to eat before castle visit
I have been noticing that some folks have posted on eating a special way before the hysterectomy. Some have talked about eating lightly, some others have talked about eating gas free foods. Can someone be more specific?
Will it help to eat lightly for several days beforehand? I know I am on liquids for 24 hours beforehand. Will it help to be on liquids longer than that?
Does this mainly help with the gas and going to the bathroom afterwards? Any advice is welcome.
Funny vision of woman trading in a sign that says "will work for food" for sign that says " will work for gas free diet foods"
That would be me.

Terfemme: Just had my preop today, and my dr. said nothing after midnight the night before. No alcohol or tobacco for 24 hours prior. Thats it! However, after reading all the posts, I think I will go on a liquid diet the day before, just to be on the safe side.

What to eat before castle visit
I was on a liquid diet the entire day before my surgery. My list of acceptable foods included: jello, beef or chicken broth, ginger ale, apple juice, tea, black coffee, and popsicles. What I missed the most was my coffee, because I can't drink it black. Best wishes,

What to eat before castle visit
Hi
I was on a 24 hr. liquid diet prior to surgery and also had to do a massive bowel prep the night before. My dr. told me this was needed so the colon would be cleaned out in case it was nicked or cut during surgery. Believe me Im glad I did it. I usually have a hard time after surgery w/bowels but not this time. Everything was fine. Still had gas though, but not as bad.

Pre-op diet is a decision based on you and your Dr. I ate up until midnight before surgery (regular diet with no bowel prep) and I was just fine. No more gas pains than anyone else and I eliminated fine with the help of a laxative and stool softener post-op.
