I must be the lucky one.

I have read so many of your stories and am simply amazed at your strengths. I am having a total done on the 26th of April and it is only due to a prolapsed pelvis. I have to have my uterus and cervix removed since they are about 2 inches from the opening of my vagina. My bladder has to be tacked back up and perhaps my rectum (not sure yet). Lucky for me that my ovaries are healthy and I will not have to endure menopause so early (32 years old). I have been blessed with 2 children and had no desire to have more.

I guess reading all of your stories kind of puts things into perspective for me. I am still a bit nervous, but I am no longer going to whine "why me". I have it pretty easy compared to so many. Thanks to those who set up this site and those who support it. I am on my way to my pre-op now.

I must be the lucky one.

Hey Tammy
Hope your pre-op went well.
You are not whining, and you have every right to ask why me? I seem to be asking that alot lately.

Well my dear...all I can say is that i've learned everything happens for a reason, and there's no use fighting it, we just accept that this is what life has thrown at us for the time being.

Sweetie, the ladies here are stong because they have to be. And obviously you are too, because you sought out help, and ended up here at HS, where you will find love, encouragement, support and friendship. We don't do that whole..."you're sicker than me, so I should not be complaining" here. Each of us is struggling in our own way. You are no different.

sending you and s
Tam

I must be the lucky one.

Whining....not.
We are all here because we need to be here. Our stories are unique but of degree. Though I will tell you, I have been so very inspired by the strength of so many beautiful women here. What you said reminded me of my son at the age of 13 when we spent a week at a hospital about 2 hours from home after he was diagnosed with diabetes. We were obviously on the pediatric floor and there were many children there with the bald heads of the true warriors. He would walk the halls in tears feeling so bad for THEM, and wondering why he should ever feel sorry for himself. That young man was very sick at the time, but when we left after 8 days, every child on that floor had a picture on their wall that he had drawn for them. Ten years later, I still well up when I think about it.
It's true that there are many women that are a lot "worse off" than our circumstances, but that does not for one minute diminish what you will be experiencing, physically and emotionally.
I will be thinking of you, wishing you all the best in your recovery.

Leslie
