In pain from Driving

I had to drive myself to the doctor for my ekg test today. 17 days post op so my gyn said ok, but boy do I hurt.
My car is a stick shift. All the pain is in the left side of my stomach, the same side I push the clutch in with.
Do you think it's from using muscles I haven't used in two weeks.
I have had little pains off and on but this is more of a pulling pain.

Hi Misa,

I think you've probably hit the nail on the head. Driving a stick shift uses a lot of abdominal muscles and it sounds like you are feeling the effect of it.

Taking it easy and some rest should relieve your symptoms. If you don't get relief and the pain persists or gets worse, please contact your Dr. to report.

Best wishes and s

Yes

I think it is from the clutch.
I have a five speed and it's very old and does not drive smooth like some.
Am hoping to borrow a car for my post op driving
Take care

In pain from Driving

I think getting an automatic to drive for a while post-op is an excellent idea if you can swing it. I normally drive a stick shift, but I thought the clutching would likely be hard on me post-op, so I traded with dh and have been driving his automatic. I haven't been driving a lot, but I haven't had any pain from it either. I am starting to miss my usual "ride" and am looking forward to trading back in a few more weeks.
