chinese medicene and accupuncture

Hi everyone. This is really a great website. So much sharing and info. I would like to share something that has been very helpful. I have had terrible problems with bleeding from fibroids. I mean bad. I became severely anemic in February from heavy bleeding that would not stop. I have done many alternative things in an effort to keep my uterus. Maybe it's just me but I strongly wanted to avoid the surgery. When I became so weak, pale and out of breath I did not know where to turn and my sister made an appointment and had her accupuncturist come to my house. She also does Chinese medicene. She put accupuncture needles in me, gave me a moxa treatment and gave me some emergency stop bleeding herbs. You know what, my bleeding slowed down to almost nothing and after a few days it stopped. I just wanted to share that hoping that it can be helpful to other women. Now I take an herb everyday that I got from her. And I've had my period twice since that happened. She left me with some emergency stop bleeding herbs to take if the bleeding gets heavy. Twice I have had to use it and it has worked for me. I still get really bad pain in my side but so far I just feel so happy to have an option. The severe anemia taught me lessons... that I have to take care of myself and that I have limits. I know this is long but I do hope that it is something that can help somebody else. My heart has been touched by so many of the stories on this website.

Hi Ilikemyuterus,

Thanks for sharing about your experiences with acupuncture and herbs. I'm glad that you are getting some much needed relief. I would only caution you to check out exactly what herbs you are taking. Since they are not regulated, like presecription drugs are, you owe it to yourself to find out what these herbs contain. It's great that you're getting relief, but do be careful.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi BethAC
Thank you for the reply. I know you are right, herbs are medicene.and some can have side effects just like traditional drugs. But I do feel confidence in this lady, my sister had worked with her for a long time for other health conditions and she is getting an advanced degree in Chinese medicene. I had never had accupuncture before. It was an extraordinary experience and I was really grateful because she came to my house at a time I was so weak I could hardly do a thing. So for now it's good, I am at the age when I am close to menopause so if I can just hang on. I appreciate this website very much. Take care.

I am so happy that you found some relief with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture.
I went to see a practitioner a few months ago, had acupunture with electical stimulation and cupping done. I also was put on chinese herbs.
The acupuncture and cupping felt great while it was being applied. Very relaxing. Unfortunately the effects wore off by the time I had driven home. I wish I had gone to see her earlier in my condition as it may have been treatable then.

The herbs didn't help me at all either.
For those that are considering TCM, it can be wonderful (as it's helped me in the past with other problems). I would highly recommend it as worth a try.
