epidural and general?

My DR has suggested that I have an epidural before surgery to help with pain afterwards. Has anyone had this? I had not heard of it before......She said it will help with pain relief.

epidural and general?

Hi,

Yes, I had an epidural. It does work well. I was not aware of the surgery happening and they gave me a light general so I wouldn't be awake during surgery.

When I woke up I was not hurting and was not groggy at all. My dr recommended for me to have an epidural. I had one for my last delivery. It worked great, no pain.

If you have any questions about it be sure to talk to the Anesthesiologist before you go in for surgery.

epidural and general?

I, too, plan to go with spinal anesthesia. I just feel that the after effects of general anesthesia are too much to have to deal with , since I am having to deal with so much already. And YES, you will have some extended pain relief that the general anesthesia girls do not have. I may change my mind, but for now... that's how I feel.
