Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

Can someone tell me if they cut the abdominal muscles for a TAH?

I read at pelvicfloor.com that they pull them aside/apart.

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

I was wondering that myself, I think they might to something of that nature to get there. Don't they cut a little muscle during laproscopies also? I always thought that was why my stomach was so sore after laps and I couldn't use my stomach muscles for a few days and get up out of bed like normal.

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

They do not cut them. They are stretched and pulled apart.

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

That's another load off my mind, thanks!

I think it will be less painful that way.

My stomach is pretty slack so they should pull easy!

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

So that's why my upper abdominal muscles feel bruised! I was wondering about that. I even asked my GYN what caused that and she said she had never heard of such a thing and had no explaination. Now it all makes sense.
I love this place!
Thanks!

OK, so since they do have to work with muscles is it unwise for me to be trying to strengthen my abs with situps until surgery.

I'am scheduled for may 10th,

I also read another post about being tired after getting the date. I haven't had severe pain like many of you, but just the idea of no more heavy periods or cramping thrills me. So why am I so tired and a bit depressed? By the way, does size of fibroids Make a difference in how much pain one has?

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

valiant, I was thinking the same thing about situps. I used to be very good about it but slacked off. In an big effort to lose weight, get healthy, etc before surgery I have been walking and doing situps.

Then I thought about them pulling them apart for the surgery. Why bother?

Being tired too, that's me. I wasn't before I knew I needed surgery but now I am tired. Go figure.

Do they cut the abdominal muscles?

woodsie, Thanks for the reply, I was starting to feel un heard here. Not really to bad. Off the subject but hope it's ok to ask here. I have been looking for a motivation to quit smoking. I think I might have found one I can really do. After 5 kids the old boobs just don't look so great. I have always wanted an augmentation, but dh doesn't want me to. GO FIGURE. Any ways He really wants me to quit smoking and I was thinking of asking him if he would support me in my boob decision if I quit smoking. The way I see it, it's a win win for him and me. What ya think?

Valiant,

I think that's a good deal to make with your husband. I had my boobs done but they were huge and saggy. It's a rough recovery but worth it. I guess implants may be a little easier. I had a 6 week recovery. I have nice perkies now. Big swelly belly from fibroids but nice perky boobs.

I smoked for a long time. My husband (of 22 years) asked me to marry him but said I had to give up the cigarettes first. I like to kid him and say I sure do miss them cigarettes.

But seriously, I am so glad I quit. It took determination. It was a long time before the cravings went away but I am so very glad I did.

You can do it!! Go for it!! Say yes to boobs and no to cigarettes!!
