Almost Prepared

I am so thankful for this board, and all the encouragment and support I have received. I am finally out of the fog and have gotten quite a bit done, getting prepared to go to the castle. Today I did the grocery shopping and we should be good for 2-3 weeks on food anyway. Stocked up on juices for when I come home, bought some puzzle books, thank you cards, new pair of pj's and some new undies. I tried to get a bigger size and stood there forever trying to figure out what size to get
I also bought a body pillow, anyone want to have a pillow fight? I have a couple of more things on my list to do, the biggest one being to ready the bedroom. All in all I think I'm finally really psychologically ready to go to the castle on Wednesday......but really dreading all the prep, and fasting. I don't mind going without food, but I always have to have something to drink....lol, especially when I wake up! My surgery isn't until 10:30, but since we'll probably have to be there at 8:30 it probably won't be that bad. Oh, and then there's the dreaded IV I HATE getting those put in, I'm such a big baby, and they always have a hard time getting it in. Oh well, I'm not going to worry about that now, I'm exhausted from all this worrying I've been doing!

may be a little help with the IV

first, sounds like your doctor is going to limit your intake next week??? As long as you can DRINK, DRINK, DRINK and then DRINK some more!! ...You need this so that the vain does not try and play hide and seek! Drink all you can this weekend and monday and tus. This way you are not the slightest bit dehydrated and this helps when they go to put the IV in.

Next, keep your body warm on the morning before you go to the hospital. And if it is cold when you get there ask for a hot pack to put on your arm to aid with the IV. If you are cold the vains will also play hide and seek

Hope that all goes well and see you on the other side...I go in on wed too and I am scared of the pain when we wake up

congrats on all the prep work!

Sandy, if it is anything like my surgery, I never knew the IV went in. They gave me a shot in the hip before rolling me to pre-op that was supposed to "relax" me. I fell asleep before the IV part(or the catheter part ).
Wishing you all the best for a successful surgery and a speedy and uneventful recovery.
