anyone else around post op 3 weeks now? I'm still having MAJOR pain on left side..

I am surprised as I had thought that by now the pain would have lessened QUITE a bit. Anyone else around 3 weeks post op?

I realized last night how to try and describe it. Feels like inside there is a big raw open tender spot that hurts still, with every single step I take and car rides (as a passenger w/a pillow) are still very uncomfortable.

When I talked to Dr last week and what I had described to him, he said that the pain on the left side was 'normal' and to only worry if there is a fever over 100.

Anyone else STILL having pains alot after 3 weeks??? I am sure I am not alone here, I am hoping I have a pain sympathy sister here so I can feel "normal' inspite of what the Dr said.

THANKS all Princess's :-)

I am 3 week post op

I am sorry to say, but I am having very little pain. The only time I hurt is when I have lifted too much, or bent down allot.

Have you been lifting or bending??? Or did you lift anything heavy right after surgery, it is possible you have some internal stiches that have ripped, what about bleeding, any bleeding??

Thanks for asking.

I never thought to add..... NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no bleeding or spotting at all.

I just thought after 3 weeks pain would have really subsided by now but it is not breath taking pain, but still hurts quite bad all day long, unless I am laying on couch or bed.

Hey Sapphire,
I am 4 weeks post and I hurt some what on my right side. I notice it is worse when I do to much. Going to many places just wears me out. I still take an occassional pain pill. I went to the doctor Thursday and everything is normal. Just don't do to much and take it easy. I don't think you should be in constant pain. Do you have pain medicine? You may want to call your doctor. God Bless!!

i will be 4 weeks on monday and i am still having significant pain. i was worreid that i had a hernia on one side, but the ps said that was where they did all the pulliing and sewing. i don't know if you can compare any of us to one another because each surgery is different. i had asked how long i would need pain meds and was told about a month. definitely not ready to stop now.

I did talk to my Dr on the phone 5 days ago and he said all sounds normal as long as there is no fever.

I maybe over doing it, but it hurts still, even first thing in the morning, but MUCH worse by evening.

I did get a refill for pain pills that I take everynight. Have one sleeping pill left that I am coveting. Hate to use the very last one, but will have too.

Hi,

I will be 4 weeks post op on Tues. and do not have pain or soreness on either side; until I eat. I've noticed that when I eat, about 2" to the right of my navel will be sore. No sharp pains. About an hour or two, it goes away. Sounds weird I know and cannot figure it out. Does not matter how much or how little I eat, still get that sore feeling there.

Here's a and hoping it gets better for you!

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op after having a TAH ... still am bothered with substantial pain all over my tummy area each day .. can wake up feeling wonderful then as mid morning progresses I feel all the twinges, pulls and needles ... I guess its all part of the healing process... I know that when I feel more pain its because I either have a gas build up or a bowel movement is coming soon ... walking around the house or yard seemed to help pass that gas and I do feel better ... be sure to take a stool softener (colace is a very good one) ... also I do have a swelly belly and wearing a lightweight panty girdle (even at night) keeps everything from "jiggling" around ... hope this is of some help .. good luck and hope you feel better soon ... REMEMBER, we all heal at different stages .. listen to your body ... Some pain indicates possibly doing too much too soon ..
