Estrogen & Weight Gain

Hi:

I read an earlier post and "Linda"--a Crown Jewel responded that if you do not have enough estrogen then it could cause you to have fat around the middle or hard to lose weight.

I'm taking Premarin 1.25 (the yellow one) and splitting it in half (thus a prescription last me 2 months).

I thought too much estrogen would make you gain weight. Am I wrong? Maybe I need to take the whole 1.25??????

Please help---ANYONE.

Thanks,

Celeste

Estrogen & Weight Gain

Celeste,
Weight gain can be from either too much or too little. Hormonal imbalance can cause weight gain. I guess that's why we call it a jungle.

Here's two interesting articles on the issue of weight:

Estrogen & Weight Gain

Hi Celeste!

Here's a list of symptoms we can have with hormones: too much/too little

Weight gain is listed under having an abundance of estrogen which is what I *think* I remember (((Linda))) saying but I could be wrong about that.

How do you feel on the half dose of your Premarin? If you feel fine on it, that's what is right for your body and that's what's important.

About the Crown Jewel - that in no way makes the reply any more valued or correct than any other reply. The Crown Jewel is an indication of voluntary contributions to help keep this website free for all members. Just wanted to clear that up!

Estrogen & Weight Gain

Hi:

On the .625 (1/2 of my 1.25 mg dose) I feel ok escept for weight gain, pudgy stomach...

I don't "flash" as I understand it, but I feel warm, clammy in the arm pits, around the neck...

By the way, I am 50 years old and I had my Hysterectomy in 1996.

Thanks for your help.

Estrogen & Weight Gain

Hi sisters....I to was under the impression that Linda had said she personally gains weight around the middle when her estrogen is LOW. We have to remember each one of us are different and some main loose weight or gain it when their levels are either low or high. I am currently trying to find which catogory I'm in. Prior to my surgery 2/6 I had a ok waist line. Now I have none, just a roll. I am currently on Premarin 1.25 and Estratest HS 1/2 pill a day. The premarin was just increased about 2 wks ago from .9. Too soon to tell. I go to the Dr on Tues to check what my blood work came back as. They were testing for thyroid and my hormone levels. I do know that something is wrong. For the last 6 or 7 wks I have been really hitting the work outs. 250 crunches a day. Really working out, dieting etc. And the huge middles is not going away and neither is the weight. I've gained 10 lbs since my TAH 2/6 and hate it. So I know how you feels sisters. It gets so frustrating. Sometimes I wish I had never had it done. The bleeding 17 days a mo and the pain just might have been worth it after all. No not really, but sometimes you get to feeling that way trying to sort out this hormone jungle that we sisters have to go thru after surgery. YES? Well hang in there. I hope we all come to a even road soon.
Hugs Kim
