New Hyster Sister Needs Help

I had my hysterectomy on November 6,2000...I am 6 days post op and feeling kind of strange.I had a LAVH with Left ovary removal.I have an abdominal incision that is weeping a ***** looking fluid and I am still experienceing a lot of abdominal and vaginal pain.Is this normal?? Then there is this ungodly vaginal odor.....please tell me it goes away!!!I had my first BM 4 days post op...it reminded me of giving birth all over again.I began to consume prunes with a fevered passion and now they are more normal. Is all of this normal?? I think I should call my Dr on Monday about the weeping....should I also ask about that ODOR???

Don't worry. That awful odor does go away and come back and go away again. I think it has to do with the internal stitches. I, too, was weepy after my surgery and it usually takes a whole lot to get me sobbing. I think it is the after effects of the anesthesia. The aches and pains will ease up too. They put us into some pretty unatural positions for the surgery. Keep your chin up, if that doesn't hurt too much and remember there is light at the end of the tunnel. Once you are farther along I am sure you will feel great.
HUGS to you

It will get better

You might want to call your doc about the incision. I had a TVH so I never had to deal with tummy incision. About that icky odor, I hate to tell ya, but when you have stitches galore down there, they will do that until they go away. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and mine are all gone (thank goodness!). I freaked about the odor, too, until I read on the boards that others had it too. I will say a little prayer for a speedy recovery for you.:-)

My odor turned out to be a piece of rotting flesh caught in the stitches. If it smells like a piece of rotting chicken caught in the drain of your kitchen sink, I'd say call the doctor. I'm having to take an antibiotic now.
