Ovarian Mass

I am new here but so glad I found this web site. I have a few questions and a major decision to make in the next few days. So any help would be great.

I went for my yearly exam and had problems with heavy clotting and bleeding, with major cramps. My dr. ordered an ultrasound and they found a mass on my right ovary. I had part of my left ovary removed 6 years ago becasue a cyst ruptured. I have had different problems over the last few years nothing that is awful just painful and hard to deal with especially hormone fluctuations. I am only 30, so I don't really understand this. Well my dr. is giving me the option of

1) a lap to remove the mass and my right ovary with possible incision because of size, then undergoing endometrial ablation for bleeding.

2) full hysterectomy, with removal of both ovaries.

I am not sure what to do. I had a CA125 and the results were 18, which is good but my dr. is being very catious and telling me that doesn't mean the mass isn't cancerous. I expect to have to have hysterectomy at some point my mom did in late 30's. There is a family history of breast cancer and colon cancer on the maternal side, which puts a slightly higher risk of ovarian cancer.

Sorry this is so long. Any thoughts or experiences would be much appreciated. I am not sure what to do. I have been researching both sides. Not sure what is the right thing to do.

Thanks so much

Ovarian Mass

Hi
I can identify with your problem- I have a mystery mass on my right ovary and am debating what to do. It seems like the more info I find the more confused I become!!
I have heard the CA 125 test is not a good indicator of anything.
I also have a fibroid and my Ca 125 test are normal but normal. I have been for 2 ultrasounds and it seems the mass is getting bigger. After the last one the report sais possible malignantn tumor. the first one just said possible tumor. So i am getting nervous. I was scheduled for a laproscopic hys. and taking the one ovary. Now my doc isnt sure laproscopic is good incase it spills when its coming out.
Well I wish I was more help to you- but youre certainly not the only one confused and unsure about what is best.
I am almost 34 and everyone is telling me Im too young which is driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck!
