Home from the castle--Long---:D
Hi ladies,
My DH and I got home friday at 11:30 pm, I have not posted yet becuase I just haven't felt up to using the pc yet.
I entered the castle may 10th at 5:30 am, I was blessed with another bowel prep (as if the fleet stuff I had to drink wasn't bad enough the day before..LOL) they drew more blood and finished preping me and sent me to the holding area. The nurses were wonderful and so nice. Everything happend so fast, and the next thing I remember is the recovery room and pain. They upped my morphine dosage on the pca pump and that helped a lot.
When I was taken back to my room, the first thing I noticed was the NG tube down my nose, man I would wish that thing on my wost enemy and of course good ole cathy..LOL One of the doctors that helped with my surgery told me they had to cut my bladder and repair the bowel when they took my right ovary out. She also said that my ovary was enlarged (what ever that means I don't know) So that meant that I had to go home with a foley.
Anyhow, my castle stay wasn't to bad, since I was at a teaching hospital I got to meet a lot of doctors and med students.
I got discharged with a foley and a JP drain still in place (my doc said they usually remove them before you leave the hospital but mine was draining lots still) I go back to the doc's this friday to get staples, the foley and the drain removed
The only compication is that I have an infection in my incision. Yesterday it started draining, I mean like several tablespoons by the end of the evening.
Overall, I believe that this surgery has fixed my problems. I can't wait till I can start living again. Thanks Ladies for taking the time to read this

Hey Tech Chick,
Glad things are on the mend. I'm a little concerned about the infection in your insicion. Have you called the doctor's office to tell them this? It's never a good thing to let an infection go.
Please call your Dr. and let us know what they say about it.

It sounds like you've had a pretty rough time. You have a very good outlook for someone that has been through so much. Anyone that can still look at things in such a positive way - has got to do okay! Good luck and you go girl!!!! Keep us updated.

Welcome home, I love your positive outlook as you had a rough time, I am sorry you had some complications you need to rest but I too am worried about your infection? Does your doctor know about it? I don't think that should wait till your appt. There are a few women here who had bad infections and would hate to see yours get out of control, not trying to nag but worried and hope you call the doctor.
Keep us posted and I hope you have a smooth recovery from here on out!
Hugs
Mary

Thanks for the support and kind words!!! This board is great!!!!! as for the infection, I'm not sure what to do about it, it looks better today and is not draining now. I have been cleaing it and applying anitiotic cream. I am also taking Cipro which is also an antibiotic. The gyn that did this surgery is 2 1/2 hours a way. I do go back to this doc on friday to get cathy, JP drain and staples out.
For those LIW, this has been the best thing I've done, besides having the hyster. Besides the surgical discomfort I'm still experiencing, I no longer had the pain that was drove me to this surgery. I can't wait to get back in shape, ride my horses and get on with life in general. Life is not leaving me behind this time!!!!
