Mass found Possible ORS

Hi All:

I am new to this site. I had a hysterectomy in 99 leaving my left ovary. In 2003 I had that ovary removed because of recurring cysts. Exactly 12 months later, I started having pain in my right side. I saw the doc on Friday, he did ultrasound, found a small solid mass. He did blood work, looking for any hormones. I still don't have the results but am a little scared. It looks like I will probably end up in surgery again. This will make number 11. I have been suffering since 1993. When will this ever end???? I am hoping that this isn't cancer, I will be greatful if it is just Ovarian Remnant Syndrome. That's pretty sad, isn't it?

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having problems. We can certainly relate here on this place we call the Road. I also can no longer count on my hands the number of surgeries I've had. I will say a er for a good outcome for you.

Mass IS Ovary Remnant

Hi All:

I just got the results from the blood work. I am not in menapause. The mass they found is a functioning ovary. It is making me so sick and causing a lot of pain. Doc put me on progesterone. I sure hope this works. Has anybody else dealt with this? I can't believe this is happening to me.

I'm sorry you're going through this! I guess I am confused. Did a piece of ovary grow back? Or was the whole ovary left my mistake? I am having both of my ovaries removed next Tuesday, and if I ever have to deal with ovarian stuff again, I am going to be pretty mad!

Is there a cyst on the remaining ovary that is causing pain?

Mass found Possible ORS

Hi Jujubee:

A piece of ovary was left by accident. Then it grew big enough to start to ovulate and cause the same problems I was having before. It is rare for this to happen but with my history, I am not surprised that it happened to me. Good luck on your surgery.

(((Suziee))):

I do hope this next surgery will be done by a GYN-oncologist? Not so much that ORS is a malignancy (and no, it's not "sad" -- I understand all too well that sensation of relief that it's "only" something moderately horrendous ) but that surgery in your situation, with likely adhesions and all kinds of re-arrangements of your insides, is not that easy . The oncologists have the expertise to do anything that might arise, whether involvement with bladder, intestine, whatever.

My doctor wants me to see a new oncologist for the adhesion problems I have, since intestinal involvement is highly likely. I haven't opened that can of worms -- yet -- but it's only a matter of time for me as well.

Take a look in the search engine for "ovarian remnant" -- there have been ladies in your shoes before, and they've shared their experiences with the whole process.

Big s -- my thoughts are with you!

Audrey
