hard swollen stomach

Hey! I'm new here so please bear with me. My abdomen is
swollen and staying hard all of the time, when I stand up. When
I lie down, I can't feel anything. Neither can the doctor.
Family doctor says, it's nothing, gynecologist says it's nothing,
and gastroenterologist says it's nothing. But it looks and feels
like I'm about 9 months pregnant and I'm not. I'm not going
to get hysterectomy yet, because they don't know a reason
for doing one. I just didn't know who to ask. I have had ovarian
cysts on one of my ovaries that went away, and I have one
small calcified fibroid in my uterus. I'm going crazy trying to figure
out why it is staying swollen so much. Also, I'm short of breath
sometimes and I fill up faster than I used to when eating. Please
give me suggestions on what to ask the doctor if you have any.
Thanks wmjsease

Be sure to write down all your symptoms so you won't forget to ask your DR about any of them.

An enlarged uterus will take up a lot more space and can crowd the other organs. I used to have a hard time bending over to tie my shoes.

At the top of this forum there are a lot of links that might help you out.

Best wishes!

hard swollen stomach

I have the same symptoms, but I know that mine are a bunch of fibroids. I am going tomorrow to the Castle. I cannot wait for the day to come and to get it over with. I cannot wear my normal clothes, cannot eat a full meal, go to the bathroom after drinking a small glass of liquid, and ofcourse the Aunt flo misery. Wait and see what causes your bloating, or ask for an Ultrasound just to make sure tha all is well. Good Luck

swollen belly

wmjsease,
You might want to keep tract of how big your abdomen is by measuring it every few days. Keeping tract of your symptoms is also a very good idea as the other ladies have suggested. Some fibroids are not painful or noticeable except on CT scan or U.S.
You might insist on getting some tests done like a CT scan. It would show masses like fibroids etc. At least you could have some peace of mind which is very important. Even if you have already seen your doctor you can still ask for these tests.
When I was 36 my stomach muscles weakened and my belly fell forward. I didn't know what the heck was happening since I always had a very flat stomach. I should have gotten my hormones tested, as I was starting perimenopause. This is probably not your situation, but I had a Ct scan done just to get things checked out. I did have 2 fibroids, but the abdomen was large because of the menopause not the fibroids. The 2 fibroids shrunk but the belly did not. Unfortunately another fibroid has recently grown (10 years later )and has to be removed. I wish the best to you. There's lots to learn on this website -I do hope you check it out well before ever considering a hysterectomy.
Wishing you well!
