Hernia?

Wondering if anyone else developed a hernia after their Hysterectomy?

My doctor said it was a risk (complication) that some face, especialy if they have been very active and/or lifting soon after their operation.

I think this may be the case for me. Being honest, I know that I lifted too soon during my recovery, as I was alone with my two little ones ages 7 months and 2 years.

I have heard that prolapse and hernia are related? Would like to hear from you if you have experienced either.

How did you know that you had either hernia or prolapse after?
What were your symptoms?
How were you diagnosed?
What was done to help you?

Hi,

Hernia was my greatest worry. My sister-in-law had a hysterectomy in 1998. During her 6 week exam she sat up quickly and felt a "pop". After, there was a small lump. Of course that is all I thought about for weeks after my hysterectomy. The doctor assured me that if I did not overdue, this would not happen. I am 11 weeks post op and no "pop". Listen to your doctor and be reasonable in what you do, you should be fine. Don't let worrying get the best of you. It did me.
