weight issue
 Rosie,
I don't use the Estrogel, but I do use compounded hormone creams and they have worked very well for me. We are all different and hormones are not a one size fits all.
There can be many reasons for weight gain after a hyst. A hormonal imbalance, either too much or too little estrogen can cause weight gain. A thyroid imbalance can also weight gain.
For me, I did find that during the first year or so post op it was impossible for me to lose any weight. While I didn't gain, my weight wouldn't budge. I also noticed that my weight had shifted and I had filled out a bit in places that I hadn't before.
Eventually I was able to shed some extra pounds and while my weight is good, I am shaped a bit different than I was before the hyst. I think it's a combination of the surgical menopause and me getting older. It does take more of an effort on my part to keep the weight off.
