Hi Jean! I'm 35 years old and had a TAH on 4/22. It is a very scary time that we go through as we're making this decision. I had a lot of problems with fibroids and extremely heavy bleeding through the years. Every procedure I had done and every medication I tried was just a temporary fix. It had such an impact on everything I did, from the clothes that I wore to not wanting to plan anything for fear that I would be incapacitated by bleeding. It ruled my life. When I was out of other options and when my doctor felt that I had been sufficiently tortured (her words!), I made the decision to go ahead with the surgery. It was a decision that I knew I'd have to make eventually but, when faced with it, it was scary. Now, being 5 weeks post op, I know it was the best thing I could have done. I feel great and already feel a difference in my energy level. I made the decision in order to improve the quality of my life and I'm really looking forward to the future without periods!

Just weigh all your options and you'll know what's best for you. It is a major surgery, but it's amazing how you can bounce back. Every day afterwards gets better. And everyone heals differently, but so many women get through it and never look back. Good luck!!

I too am 31 and I am scared about getting back to myself after the operation. I am not to scared about the TAH itself but the recovery with two small childern running away and my husband reutrning to work a week later. Itis nice to hear from people who are having the operation that are young.

Hiya! I am also 31 and am having a TVH for Highgrade SIL/CIS 3.
I too have been reading everything I can find on the procedure, to aftercare and everything in between. The more I read, the confident I feel about what is going to happen.
I have also talked to my doctor quite a bit, and that has also seemed to help.

I'm 31 also, single mom of 2, and TAH/BSO on June 30th. Very nervous but looking forward to having all this suffering done and over with! I can certainly relate about being scared. I wake up a lot in the middle of the night to pee (thanks to extra large uterus) and then I can't fall back asleep because I start "thinking" and worrying about the surgery and more, the pain after surgery. Yikes.
