My Lupron experience

I had my Lupron shot a month ago. I had to go get the injection kit from the pharmacy and take it in to the doctor's office to have the nurse administer the shot. When I saw her assemble the needle I was taken back by it's size, but the shot (given in my rear) was not painful at all and I had no soreness afterward. This may depend on the skill of the person giving the shot, but for me it was no worse than any other shot in the fanny!

Upper buttock area. The shot was not painful when they gave it to me, but the next day and a few days after were VERY sore

Pain is dependant on the person administering the shot. I have had 10 injections and it has only hurt twice . I have one that I love...she always changes the gauge of the needle to a nice small one that doesn't hurt at all. If you're nervous about it I would ask them to change the needle for you. Injection site is the top of the butt...where I have lots of padding.

Do the Lupron shots hurt and where do they give them at?

Cleveland,

I had (3) lupron shots to shrink the size of my fibroids for my LSH surgery.

I agree with the other Hyster Sisters. The shot was given in the upper real-end area. It did not hurt. With me, they alternated the right side and then the left side when I came in each month.

I did have some tenderness after the shot(s). A Hyster Sister on one forum said she massaged the area around the shot right after and that helped to alleviate any soreness. She said the tenderness is caused my a tension in the muscle area around the shot area.

Hope that helps. Good Luck with your lupron. It got me to my wonderful surgery so I can say only GOOD things about it!!

Do the Lupron shots hurt and where do they give them at?

The sisters are right. I've had I think 10 shots so far, each one was different pending on the nurse. They switch cheeks each time and massage the area sometimes before and after. They never reduced the needle that came with the package I get from the pharmacy. Sometimes I can't sit on that cheek for days without pain and other times no pain. One nurse said, oh there is two ways a shot can go in, easy and hard and this one was hard, your cartilidge came out with the needle! Never again will she poke me!!! I never look at the needles!! I pass out too easy!

Do the Lupron shots hurt and where do they give them at?

Dear Cleveland,

I had 3 Lupron injections prior to hyst - apart from hot flushes and loss of appetite and a little nausea on one day I had no other pain or side effects, although everyone is different.

I would definately recommend having the Lupron. Because of it I was able to have a myomectomy )removal of fibroids keeping uterus intact in 1997 instead of a hyst.

7 years I have finally had to succomb to a hyst but thanks to Lupron I got a horizontal cut as opposed to the planned vertical cut.

I'm definately grateful to my doctor for letting me have it. I hope whatever choice you make it will be the right one for you.

Hugs.

lupron shots

I had one a month for 6 months. I had them in the muscle in the arm, they alternated arms each month. My arm was a little sore the next day, but nothing else.
I didn't have hot flashes, or memory problems, or memory problems, or hot flashes -wait maybe memory problems-ha ha.

They didn't change my moods or anything. I just got to go withoug periods for six months and things shrunk for awhile.
But then it all grew back, plus some so I still have to have the surgery. Menopause isn't coming, so we are 'bringing it on!"

Do the Lupron shots hurt and where do they give them at?

I've had 3 Lupron shots so far. My nurses always tell me to put all my weight on the leg opposite the side of the butt where the injection is going. That seems to make a big difference. The first 2 nurses were great and I hardly felt the stick. The last nurse said, "OK, big stick 1 2 3!" and then jabbed me with the needle really hard. It hurt for the rest of the day! So now I know not to have her do my injection again!

The needle is super long and scary looking. However I find that having a long, scary needle gets me lots of sympathy and support from my fiance, so there's an upside too!

Shot #2 is coming up next Tuesday. First one didn't hurt at all but I didn't feel too good for a few days. DH said that when the doc was getting the air out of the needle, my working furbaby (guide dog) looked really worried. He huged her and told her it was for me and not her.
