endo-do hormones change the appearance?

Hello all!
In my last lap about a year ago they saw a lot of endo lesions, but unfortunately just took out the cysts and closed me up thinking that lupron would take care of it. I have the surgery report . Having tried the lupron, and then been on continuous birth control and aygestin for another 6 months and still being in constant pain, I finally convinced my doc to do the hyst. That was dec.03', and I am still having the pain. She has sent me to the GI doc and now a bladder doc, but so far the haven't found anything to explain the pain I'm having. When I mentioned to her about maybe I need to find a specialist to remove the endo, she said she didn't see very much when she did the hyst and removed what she did see. The pathology report said adeno in the uterus and repressed endo elsewhere. Now my question is- I thought that the hormones could shrink the endo , but not actually destroy it- where did all the endo mentioned in the lap report go? Is it possible the it just changed it's appearance so she didn't recognize it as well? She's not an endo specialist, but not a dolt either. I really feel that it is still the endo, but can't explain to myself or her why she didn't see it ....She is ok about me trying to see the specialist, but I am afraid that they can't tell me anything until they go in, and what if I have the surgery for nothing???
Anyone have any thoughts??

Thanks so much!

Sorry to hear about your problems with endo. That is why I'm having my hyst to due to endo. I'm seeing a great specialist in Boston, MA.

Did you take estrogen right after your hyst? I've heard that if endo was left behind, some are so small they can't be seen that they will grow from the HRT estrogen? I don't think you having a laproscopy will be for nothing, you don't feel well, and you know your body best, you know your endo pain compared to other pains, if you want the name of my specialist I use let me know, he's great.

They say endo can return after a hyst and there are ways to treat it if it does, I hope its not the case though for you.

Take care of yourself,

no hrt

Dear Abbie,
I haven't taken any hrt at all and am even trying to stay away from soy as I have heard it has a form of estrogen (which isn't that easy as I am strict vegetarian)...
I have made the appoinment with the specialist anyway, thanks for your suggestion. I just agonize over whether or not the surgery is needed, and if I am crazy or my gyn?

endo-do hormones change the appearance?

My doctor has me taking progesterone alone, at least for now, after finding endometriosis during my hysterectomy. While estrogen feeds endo (and our bodies apparently produce small amounts even without ovaries), the progesterone is supposed to kill it out. I've noted, however, in the Hormone Jungle section, that some people have trouble taking progesterone, so it may not be the answer for everyone.
