How long can I take Motrin 600?

I will ask my DR this tomorrow when his office opens back up but how long is it safe to take Motrin?

I have bee taking Motrin 600 since discharge 16 days ago. I just now read the warning leaflet that came with it and it says not to take longer than 10 days.

I am confused by that because DR said take every 6 hours around the clock for 7 days then as needed after that. He wrote the script for enough pills to go way beyond 10 days.

Anyone taking Motrin longer than 10?

thanks!

Watch your stomach

Hi Woodsie,

I take Motrin on a regular basis for fibromyalgia...at least 600 mgs twice a day to keep my tender points from flaring. I've been under a doctor's supervision for this for the last two years. We tried other anti-inflamatories, but Motrin works the best for me.

The only caution I have to share is to take your Motrin with food. It's hard on your stomach lining. If your stomach hurts, try taking some Zantac along with the Motrin.

Best of luck to you! Lisa

How long can I take Motrin 600?

Thanks Lisa. I feel better about the Motrin. I only took one yesterday and none today because I wanted to be cautious.

I am pretty uncomfortable so I will take one now and not worry.

Hope you have a great day!

How long can I take Motrin 600?

Hi Woodsie,
When I saw my doctor last week he said it was fine to take ibuprofen. I've been taking 800mg.1-2 times a day. It only takes the edge off of the pain I am experiencing.I am about 31/2 weeks post-op. I quit taking percocets, because painkillers contribute to constipation, which I am having a horrible time with. I took ibuprofens back in the terrible menstrual days and never had a problem with them.
Good Luck, Peggy

Keeping it in your system

Hi again,

The main thing with anti-inflams is that you have to keep them in your system for them to really be effective. While you're recovering from major surgery like this, it's important to take them even if you're feeling good because they have to build up in your system to work properly...and that may be why you're feeling good !!

Just a thought! Lisa

How long can I take Motrin 600?

Woodsie,

I weaned myself off of the Motrin after 2 weeks because it can cause stomach problems and I am not big on taking meds either. What I found that worked better was my Boo Boo pack which I made out of fabric and Flax Seed. One of the mom's at my son's nursery school made them for each of the kids and they work great, so I decided to make a bigger version for myself. I can either microwave it or put it in the freezer, depending on what I need it for. You should try it, it works wonders, even better than the Motrin. IM me if you have any other questions on how to make it or anything else.

Hugs,
Toni
