A little speedbump in life!

Holy cow! I feel great! I had surgery 10 days ago, and except for a little tummy tenderness, I'm feeling terrific! I was let out of the hospital 3 days post-op and although that hour-long ride home was a little rough (I didn't realize just how lousy our Ontario roads are with potholes!), it was good to be home. At 5 days post-op, I was out for coffee with friends just like always, and even did a little bit of shopping. Mind you, I was walking VERY slowly and finally gave in to rest. I can look back now and see that my surgery was just a little speedbump in my life---the expectation is the worst part--- nothing near as drastic as I was expecting (although I admit the hospital stay was not fun--esp. with having that terrible internal catheter!) Now I can get back to living! My hubby looks like he's going to have a nervous breakdown, what with looking after the 2 kids, cleaning, cooking, etc., and although I admit I do help out some, I think it might just do him some good to see what I REALLY do all day! I can almost see him cringe when I say, "Honey can you do this for me?" **LOL** He is just SOOOO overworked, you know! Okay, really, he has been a great help, it's been very enlightening for him, and I've never seen him look forward so much to going back to work...he's already got enough pants and shirts pressed to last the next decade! Okay, I think I'm really rambling here, but I just wanted to let everyone know that having this surgery is not the end of the world, and you might even be glad you did it! I'm certainly making out great! Best wishes to all and good luck!

you sound just like me, except I have older children that are surprising the daylights out of me! They are all really pitching in to help! My hubby made me cry yesterday! I thought he was trying to show how lazy I was before the surgery and started really cleaning the entry and living room! It wasnt that at all! He was just trying to make it easier for me when I can take over the housecleaning! He cant take time off from work he is in a one man shop!) So he hurried up and did his paperwork on friday night!so he could help me on saturday! I hope he will have time for himself today! I did overdo it yesterday I tried to help out too! I decided to clean out a bathroom closet and didnt relized how much bending and twisting you do!! I took the afternoon off and made sure I took my meds, and went to bed early! I am still a bit sore today but I feel I will get my back soon and promise to keep it down!

Hugs!

Feeling good too!

Hi Ladies,

I was a basket case before I went in the hospital. But at a week and 3 days I felt so good I overdid it! I'm learning to listen and not overdo.

My dh is at the breaking point too. We have two kiddos.
Ages 6 and 10. They haven't exactly pitched in as much as we'd like but they have been doing pretty good.

It is funny to see dh take over my jobs and then do the same thing he fusses at me not to do (LOL). But I have to give him credit he has definitely been Mr. Wonderful during these past 3 weeks. I just hope he can hold on for 3 more.

Speedy recoveries to all in post op!

Love,
"C"

A little speedbump in life!

Isn't it wonderful that all the men are being enlightened around here? **LOL** True, though, I sometimes wish my kids were a little older to help hubby once in a while to give him a break, but they're only 3 years old and 4 1/2 months old...You're right, C, I think that the worst part was thinking about it; once it was over, it's like "Oh, that wasn't TOO bad!" The worst parts for me were that internal catheter (a nurse actually got her foot caught in my tubing from it and pulled it, and GEEZ, did that HURT!) and the gas (but that was something that came and went, it's not like I was rolling on the floor screaming all day or something). I guess we can all congratulate ourselves for making it through the worst part and just trying to take it easy for the rest...although I can see that you ladies are like me in that if the hubby isn't quick enough, we're tempted to clean up ourselves just out of habit---and we really have to quit doing that for awhile...yeah, right!

Have a great one!
Vina
