Ok I finally got my 2% testosterone cream today and guess what, the only directions are apply at bed time as directed!!!! OK. The dose maximum 4ml a day. But all that does not tell me much. I called the doctors and of course she was not in. UGGGGGGG. I know that I am to put it on down below!!!! But I think that the perscription also said the wrists. I'm just totally confussed.

Hi

To start out I would suggest using it "down below". It's supposed to work best for libido if used there. As time goes on you may want to change the location of where you apply. My directions suggest the wrist, forearm, under bicep, upper shoulder, inner thigh, buttock and behind the knee as alternate sites for application. It is *never* to be applied to breast tissue.

I have been using Testosterone cream for quite some time now and haven't changed where I apply it. Those of us who use it usually do a pea size portion.

Congratulations on getting your prescription. I hope you have success with it!

Hi, I just picked up my 2% testosterone cream today also and it doesn't say how much to use, how many days a week, and where it's to be applied. I called my gyn's office but the office is closed ... and I was so excited to start it tonight, oh well, will have to wait till tomorrow. I am assuming from reading everyone's threads in here, that I will use a pea size amount and possibly 3 times a week ... just need to know if I'm suppose to apply it to the vulva.

I do have a big question ... has anyone had side affects from this cream, extra hair or extra weight gain??? I surely don't want to put on more weight than I already have since my hyster.

Bye now, Marty

4 ML in a day is ALOT! When I initially started on the 2% cream I was to use .25ml 1x per day for a few weeks. As I began to notice a difference I was to go to every other day for a few weeks and than 2x per week.

.25 ml is just a dab. I think there's a post around here that has the conversions. I'll see if I can find it.

I've used the cream on my wrists successfully.

Marty,

The vulva is a very good place for applying the cream. After using it for a while it was easy to tell when it was getting to be too much for me as my forehead and hair would get very oily. I started out using mine once a night. After it built up in my system I cut back to just a few times a week, and also use less now than I used to.

Good luck - I really hope it helps you!

Hi Bellarice

Is your testosterone creme in a syringe? I use .05 % testosterone creme, which is in a syringe---and 1 ml. equals .05% dosage. It's so much easier to know what amount to use if the creme comes in a syringe, rather than trying to use a "pea size".

My prescription reads "apply to inner arms, once daily". However, I apply it to my vulva, and get much better "results" with that method. I am now down to applying it 3 times a week. In the beginning it's usually recommended to apply the creme daily for the first few weeks, so it has time to build up in your body.

Good luck and I hope it helps! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

OK I got a hold of the doctors office. They have never heard of putting it anywhere else but down under!!! The pharmacy said that they never heard of it in a cream form so they gave me an ointment. This just keeps getting confusing to me. I'm calling my old gyn tomorrow he stopped taking my insurance after my hysto but he has now moved to a diffrent office . I think I would be better off seeing him he knows what he's doing not like this other doctor. No I did not come with a syringe. It came in a little tub. I apply it 3 times a week and that's to start out with.

Ut oh! Kim...4 ml a day is a lot? My new Dr has me using 4ml twice a day!!! Whoo hoooooo!!!!!! I've been on this new dose for 1 week. I guess my testosterone level was next to nothing on my last blood work. Even lower than a post menopausal woman...(which I am now. LOL). Oh well....the only thing I've noticed so far is I have INCREDIBLE O'S!!!! And I'm a bit more likely to jump down DH's throat for the tiniest little thing. Poor guy. The price he has to pay to have me back in the mood. LOL!!! Hope you enjoy your new "mones".
Wishing you hormonal harmony.....~Kimi~

Your testosterone is just in a different base than what others here use. There's nothing wrong with that. If you're not comfortable using it until you can talk to your old doctor, that's fine too. Once you do start using it, let us know if you like it.

Kimi,

That's really a lot. I'm glad that it's working so well for you *but* there is a point where too much isn't good. Being more likely to jump down DH's throat is a pretty sure sign that you're feeling the effects of too much - aggression is a side effect. More than likely you can cut down on it - way down, and still have the nice effects without the side effects.
