Vaginal dryness
Sorry this is an embarrassing question for me to ask http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/redface.gif
I am 2 1/2 months post op now...supracervical, keeping one ovary. Sex has been great, no problems with libido except both my partner and I notice I have alot of vaginal dryness since my surgery, sometimes to the point where even though I am very aroused I remain very dry. Is this because the one ovary is not working? Is there anything I can take to help this problem. I am already taking Promensil which has seemed to help with the night sweats, moodiness I was having. I don't see my dr again until September for a six month check up and really don't want to call him with this problem, was hoping I could get some information here. Has anybody else experienced this and did it gradually improve? Everything else is great, feeling good, back to work and don't regret for a moment having this surgery. Thanks for listening, it was difficult for me to post this question but knew you ladies would understand! http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/smile.gif

Vaginal dryness
Vaginal dryness could be a sign of needing a hormone tune-up. You may want to call your doctor to discuss this. Lubricants can help with this problem. Personally, I would recommend a liquid type of lubricant. They are not as sticky, and feel more natural. Hope this helps! http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/redface.gif

Another product - vaginal moisturizer - is called Vi Amor. Works great for us! My GYN gave me some samples. You could probably mention this to yours and get some free stuff to try. She also suggested Astroglide.
Good luck!

Judy- You need hormones-hormones- hormones!! Promensil is a soy-based isoflavone-a natural plant substitute that appears to "mimic" estrogen in your body. I would guess that your one ovary is not functioning up to par. We all need a mix of estrogen- progesterone and even testosterone for our bodies to function as before. I would ask to be switched to a combination HRT that has at least estrogen and progesterone. If your doc is not up on hormone replacement therapy- see your GP (Mine is especially interested in this area and has alot of specialized knowledge) or see an endochrinologist.
Good Luck!! http://www.hystersisters.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Vaginal dryness
Though it's always worth a try, Promensil doesn't always help with all the hormone deficiency symptoms. I used it with no hrt and no ovaries and it didn't exactly help with the vaginal dryness (it might have in the sense that it might have made it worse). It's a phytoestrogen--that is, it mimics estrogen in alpha receptors and blocks estrogen in beta receptors. In addition, it's strength is a tiny fraction of estrogen's. It did do a terrific job on my hot flashes etc. so it might be worth a try. It isn't soy based but red clover based, which means that it has four isoflavones to soy's two and it doesn't have some of the adverse effects of soy on some people (so it's better than soy supplements in my book).

Vaginal dryness
Dear Judy,
Here is a non-medicinal/hormonal possible help.
Take a vitamin E liquid capsule, and insert it in your vagina prior to 'relations'. It quickly dissolves, and I have heard it works great.
All natural, no worries.
