Numbness at incision site *7 mths post op*

Hello to all my Hyster Friends

I am still kinda numb along the incision side. It feels weird like I know I am touching it but it isn't feeling anything. It was much worse right after the Hyster but has not improved for about 2 mths which leads me to believe this is as good as it is gonna get. I am not complaining I feel better than I have in years, no more pain no more cramps no more period so I can live with numbness it is nothing compared to the suffering I went through. I am just curious to know if this is normal or does the full sensation come back in some Women?

Thanks!
Kat

When the Dr's cut through the tissue to get to the parts they need to, Nerves can/are damaged. They cannot join back together as other tissue dose, once they fully heal you will have limited feeling around the scar tissue, but never full feeling.

I have a large scar & several small ones, the large one now gives a ticklish feeling when touched (that one is over 20 years old) So some feeling will come back, but it will take a while.

Hi
I still have some numbness along the incision line. It's strange and still a little painful. I didn't experience this numbness after a C section for my youngest 18 years ago. I wonder what's different? I know a hysterectomy is more complicated operation, but you would have thought healing around the incision would be similar. I'll put it down to advanced age!

After five years, my incision is still numb. No pain, just numb.

I asked a friend at our church how long it took for her feeling to come back after a C-section 18 yrs. ago, and she said she's still numb. She's a skinny thing too, not like my "fluffy" self. It's a small price to pay for no more pain and aggravation, I think.

Hi there

At 16 months postop I realised that the numbness had gone. It snuck up on me so gradually I didn't really notice it. Mind you, if it had remained numb it wouldn't have been a problem.

Numb incision forever? What the heck??? If those docs could just figure out how to do that internally - i.e., make our painful uteruses and ovaries NUMB FOREVER - we wouldn't need this danged surgery - no more cramps, etc. - LOL!

Thanks Sisters!

Well I feel much better and had quite the laugh reading the responses!

Like some of you said, if numbness is all we have to contend with then that is nothing!

NUMB and LOVIN IT now cause I know I fit right in!

Was anyone told this was a risk (mild consequence as it is)? It hasn't been mentioned to me yet.
