had an ultrasound today

hi everyone

I had an ultrasound today to see just what was going on. It was very interesting to see everything. The funny thing is the Dr. told me one fibroid is the size of a grapefruit, another the size of a lemon, there are a few grapes in there too. So I think I have a fruit basket in there!! I asked to see and I could see the big one. It looked huge. There are also some fibroids on the outside of the uterus.

I now know this is it, and it has to come out. Between this and my pre op which was last Thursday, I am ready. I am not that nervous now. I am more nervous about the morphine than anything. I don't want to be "foggy and groggy". At my pre op my Dr. spent one half hour answering my questions and reassuring me, so I really know what he is going to do in there!

We are hoping to keep the ovaries, if they aren't diseased. Of course, if they are also diseased, I want them taken out. Today during the ultrasound, the right one looks fine, but he couldn't see the left one. It is also quite painful, so we don't know if it is being "squished" by a fibroid, if it is being tangled by something or if it diseased, or if it is just hiding! We will fine out soon enough!

Enough of my ramblings!
I can't stop reading this site, it is such a comfort!

Crowned 11/13 TAH/BSO

Lyneye, I just came home from the hospital Wed 11/15. My uterus was 15 wk size. I had one fibroid tumor that was 14 week size. The surgery went very well it was 1 1/2 hrs. The first day of surgery all I did was sleep the whole day and drink and drink and drink (I couldn't get enough). I did walk for the first time at 8 pm the 1st nite. I had a pump that you could press every 15 min for pain. You could NOT over medicate because it is also preset. My 2nd day was the worst day because I got sick from the anesthetic & my potassium was low. But my 3rd day after surgery, I finally got to eat solid food and the IV was finally taken out by the afternoon and I was home that evening and felt pretty good. Thursday was good & I rec'vd my pathology report Fri morning that my tumor was benign. I was so happy. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers good luck to you. mls (Mary)
