Headaches

Good evening ladies. I am 11 days post-op from LAVH, including removal of ovaries and cervix and am very happy to report that I am doing fantastic! Even at 5 days post-op have had trouble keeping myself down cuz I feel like I have not even had surgery. BUT, I do have a problem and that is headaches - bad ones! I have had them since I woke up from surgery. They feel like the tension/migranes I used to have over 10 years ago with the bone breaking pain in the back of my neck and the feeling ike I was wearing a "cap of pain" on my head. Anyway. Thursday I went in for some blood work to see what my estrogen level was (I had a shot of estrogen right after surgery to last my for 2 weeks) evidently a low level of estrogen can bring on the headaches. I have not heard anything back yet and I see my doc next Tuesday. Anyone else having really bad headaches???

Thanks so much in advance for any feedback!

Headaches

I have a big problem with headaches too. It is terrible. My surgery was 30 days ago and my problem started 10 days ago with out stopping!!! Sometimes I think taht I am not going to be able to live with this problem. My doctor said that it was for lack of Estrogen. So, he gave me Estradiol. It was worse. Then, he gave me Estratest. I still have everyday bad bad headaches!!! And nausea too. I have progesterone the one for 3 months. Maybe is that??? I don't know... my doctor has not said anything about checking my blood. I will tell him... umm... So, I am sure your problem and my problem is because our hormons are not balanced. I already ask for an appoiment with an Endocrinologyst. To see if he can study my blood and my body more deeply.
Hope you get better....

Headaches

Hi Shel

It's good that you have an appointment soon to discuss this with your doctor.

Being so early in your recovery it's normal to have fluctuating hormone levels. You haven't started on any HRT other than the shot of estrogen, right? Once you decide on what you'll be using it's important to stay with it and allow your body time to adjust to the new HRT. It takes time for the HRT to do its job so try to be patient with it and yourself.

Let us know what you find out at your appointment, okay?

Headaches

Hi...I suffer from headaches too. Have for years. I was on the BC pill since I'm 17 and went right into Estrace 2 mg. after my hyst. last June. I went to my friend's husband's office friday...he's an anesthesiaologist (sp)?? and does pain management and Botox and stuff like that...and he did some new thing on me....it's like electronic accupuncture...and it worked! I couldn't believe it! It took my headache away immediately! I don't know if I suffer from migraines, clusters, or sinus??? He thinks it's migraines?? Who knows??? I have a check up with my GP in July. I'm gonna ask him if I should have a CT or something to make sure nothing is really wrong. But for now...at least I have my friend who can help me when I need it! Good luck ladies! Headaches are a *****

Headaches

Thank you all so much for your responses - this site is so wonderful and I am grateful to have stumbled upon it. True, it is very early in my recovery and all I have had was the estrogen shot right after surgery 12 days ago. I'll go in on Tues and find out the results of my lab tests and see if my estrogen is too low. I have opted for Estradiol - the new vaginal ring you wear for 3 months at a time - doesn't that sound great??? Thank you all for your replies - i'll let you know what the doc says about the headaches. Shel.
