Steroid Nose Spray and HRT for allergies?

Hi Guys, I had my total hysterectomy about 1 year ago and is on a Estrogen Patch (Estraderm) and recently got treated by my physician for my allergies with Nasalcort--a steroid nose spray. I could not believe how adversely the 2 interacted. I was having anxiety attacks, severe headaches, my heart rate increased dramically and retained so much fluid. Is anyone else out there taking a nose spray that does not interfere with the HRT. I don't know why my allergies seem worse than before the hysterectomy, but they do. Is it just my imagination? I need something for them and Claritin didn't work well. Help?

HRT and allergies

The explanation I got for increased allergies after hyst from an allergist makes sense. Because of the hyst your estrogen declines which thins the mucosal linings in your body. The thinner mucosal linings in your nose allows more of an ineraction between the allergens you inhale and your body system. Hence the increased allergies. Good Luck! Deb

Steroid Nose Spray and HRT for allergies?

Hi;
I started using flonase nasal spray before my hysterectomy and still continue to use it with no problems.
I also use a prescription eye drop called alomide. The combination of the 2 work quite well. (I do not use the eye drops daily, only when I need them).
I have been on every allergy pill and nothing has worked before the flonase and alomide.
Best wishes to you!

Steroid Nose Spray and HRT for allergies?

Hi, I used Beconase nasal spray before my hysterectomy and continue to use it now without problems. It is also a steroid nasal spray. I am not sure how Estrogen replacement would have anything to do with a steroid nasal spray??

Nasal Spray

Hi,

I take Nasonex and Zrytec along with my HRT and have never had a bad reaction. I also use Zaditor eye drops when needed for my eyes.

I hope you can find something that works well for you!
