I made it!

I made it through my appointment today with the Oncologist. I was a nervous wreck this morning. I often wonder why it makes me so nervous, I think it's because I get scared he will find some more cancer or something. I expected to have a pap smear or something like it today but none of that happened. He did look inside and said everything looked okay. He checked the incision and said he would see me back in his office in October and at that time I would have the pap smear. I wonder why he didn't do one today? Do you think it's to soon to have one 7 wks. post op? I used to hate going for my annual exam to get the paps now I'm almost begging for them - LOL.

Thank you to every one that helped me with what to expect today.

Love and Prayers,
Donna

Hi donna, Glad your exam went well I get nervous too. He probably did not do a pap because you are still healing.

I made it!

Donna40 my first appointment with the Gyn/Onc after surgery and treatments he also didn't do the Pap I expected, same as you he looked and said the next appointment which is for me July I am already getting "cancer head" convinced he's going to find more cancer this time. I have a ct scan at the end of the month and that just adds to the jitters.

I made it!

IMHO -- Doctors usually do not do paps on the first post op visit, because cells that are still healing may look abnormal to the tech or doctor that reads the slide. After my surgeries the past 2 years the first post op visit was just a look inside to see how I was healing and that was it.

I do wish you continued healing and take care
