Cool - another nervous newbie another nervous newbie

Hi there, this is my first post although I have been lurking since before my surgery. I had abdominal hysterectomy on 6/8 to remove a 12 cm mass on my ovary. I knew it was likley that I would end up with a full Hysto, and I"m ok with that part of it. Post op pathology shows Stage 3 c ovarian cancer, and I'm scheduled to start chemo next week. Can you say..."SCARED"??? (to put it midly)
*sigh*
I'm still in kind of a fog about this all. I have a 9 year old child and I am not quite sure how to go about telling her all this info. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, and

Being scared is perfectly normal. I hope the support you find here will help ease that feeling.

There's a forum on this site called Cancer Concerns which would be a great place for you to post about your fears and treatments. General questions about recovering from the hysterectomy can also be asked on the Post-op message board. Wherever you post you'll get lots of support from women who really understand what you're going through. Also, there's a forum called Friends Without Faces with a section called Surviving Parenthood. That might be a good place to get tips for how to explain your health situation to your child. Be sure to check in Resources (near the top of the screen) for loads of information about topics of interest to women.

When you get a moment, please add your surgery date to your profile by clicking on Control Panel, then Edit Profile, and add the date. Thanks!

I would be scared to. My doctor said my pathology was good. No further treatment. That's good for me. I can only say that a spositive attitude makes a remarkable difference when facing adversity. As a nurse who has taken care of people in your position (in their homes) long term. The best outcomes are of those who have a positive mental attitude. Good luck.
