did surgery show more things going on in there fir you?

My surgery was for 2 diagnosis that I can't say or pronounce.
1. Was heavily bleeding and clotting
2. was where the area that is supposed to shed (cells) get incorporated into the uterus cell. Equaling severs PMS basically.

Well my surgery showed up 3 new things that the 2 ultra sounds didn’t show.
I had an enlarged uterus, many fibroids, and endodemetrosis.

I was surprised., mostly at the endo. I must be blessed as to not have been in pain with that.

I feel now, even more so, that my surgery was a real blessing. Who knows what’s all going on inside of us sometimes.

Did any of you end up finding more out once the surgery happened?

Yes. I was originally diagnosed with a quite large external fibroid and several submucosal fibroids.

The submucosal fibroids turned out to be cysts. I was told that there was a 50/50 chance I had adenomyosis too...and I did. Also the pathology report said my cervix had "acute inflammation" but my doctor said not to worry about this.

Going into the operation my doctor did not think I had adeno since I didn't have any pain at all and have never had children.

Well, in a way my surgery revealed surprises. For one thing, my ultrasound had shown one fibroid. Surgery revealed 10, plus a polyp-oid cyst inside the uterus.

Before surgery, I was told my uterus was "enlarged" - but not by how much. Now that I know what it weighed, I looked at a chart of uterine sizes someone posted here and found that mine was about 13 weeks size.

So, pre-op, I knew I was miserable. Post-op I know that the pathology report totally supports my decision not to wait any more.

My doc was livid with the radiologist report. After she opened me up found out I had much more going on. Had horrible endo which no one knew that fused both ovaries together and attached to my rectum and kidneys. Had to remove everything, and scrape all the endo off. I'm fine with that. Who wants to go back in to get something else removed. NOT ME. Once was enough, thank you very much!

I went into surgery for chronic pelvic pain, heavy periods and a histroy of endo and adeno.

What the pathology report said was very surprising. I had cervical cancer about 6 years ago, but have been all clear since.

Well the pathology report showed, several large blood filled cycsts on ovaries, and cervix. One ovary was literally dieing. Blood filled tubes, Infection on cervix, tubes and ovaries and cancer cells on ovaries and cervix. And devided uterus full of adeno and a fist size firboid and endo.

So my surgery revealed more than we thought and to think I almost backed out of this surgery.

Hi!

I found out that I also had a cyst/mass on my appendix.
(Bonus - Dr. took it out since already opened up)

I am still waiting for the oncol. results of my uterus and appendix.

My Dr. says that I also have a Granuloma in my left lung that we will need to "watch".
Oh, goody.

Yes. My doctor knew about fibroids, ovarian and tubal cysts, and endometrial hyperplasia. The surprises were polyps and adenomyosis. No cancer, thank God. After the pathology report came back, my doctor was doubly reassured that "we did the right thing." Now, 21 weeks later, so am I.

I also did not know I had endo, don't think my period pains were any worse than normal, so glad I had it done before it all got worse.
