Hard time with TVH

Does anyone know why my doctor would have had such a hard time removing my uterus vaginally. Not because it was too large, but because the ligaments were holding it too hard in place. I guess I was only minutes or less from having an abdominal hysterectomy because they couldn't get the uterus to fall down. I've never read anything about that. I'm wondering if maybe the doctor should have tried one of the other options like removing the fibroids or the UE (?) It's been so long since I researched all these terms that I've forgotten what they are called.

I'm 6 days post op. Not doing too bad, but between the grandkids who don't understand what is wrong with grandma and want to be picked up and held and chasing a chipmunk around a store today.... I've been better. But I took a Vicodin tonight and that it much better.

I'd be very interested if anyone knows any web site that might be able to explain what exactly the doctor was talking about when he was trying to explain the problems he had. Let me know, if you have a link that might help. I do have an appointment this week, but I'd like to know more so I can ask better questions.

Thanks to you all.

Hard time with TVH

Hey Judy,

It is my understanding that sometimes a few "lucky" women have extreamly strong ligaments. There are 5 on each side that hold the uterus in place.

It is not unusual for some to have "strong" ligaments while others are real loose.

Hope this helps. Remember we are not Dr. these are just our opinions.

tvh

You might look at pelvicfloor.com it shows the proceedure in color if your squeemish dont go there but if you can handle a little blood and guts take a look it may shine some light on taking a watermellon out of a lemon sized hole LOL. I had no kids so they told me they would try tvh but might have to go to abdominal depending on if i was large enough to get uterus out of vaginal opening as the ligiments and stuff had not been stretched as with women who had had kids. I got lucky and they did it vaginally. You are one of the lucky ones that just have strong muscles down there. Hope you feel better soon.
