Painful urination

Has anyone else started having pain while urinating about 2 weeks post -op? This is not a burning pain like I would think a UTI would be, but after the bladder is half way empty I start having pain while emptying the second half, it feels like bladder pain, I did not have any bladder repairs. I go for my 2 week post-op tomorrow morning so no need to call my doctor, I am just curious if this is normal.

I can't remember if it was at 2 weeks, but yes, I experienced that same thing, and I read of lots of others who did, too! I asked my dr. about it and he said it was normal and to give it another month or so (that was at my 4 week check). Good luck!

Yes, I have this exact feeling, and yes it is mainly while emptying the second half of bladder. Mine is pressure pain, and like you said it is not burning like an infection. Pressure is very simular to BM pressure.

You could be having some bladder spasms. While I didn't have any bladder repair either, I did have these spasms.

Your bladder gets shoved around a lot during surgery and can get a little cranky while everything is trying to heal.

Hang in there....it should get better with time.

Sending you a big

Blessings,

Me, too!

Me, too! Exactly as you describe. I was sure it was UTI, but a UA (urinalysis) was inconclusive. I just got myself some "AZO" at the drugstore for urinary pain relief since I'm sure it's not UTI. I took some last night and second dose this morning and I'm hoping for some change. Turns your pee dark orange.

I'll let you know if this helps.

Yep, I know all about that one! Definitely the second half of emptying and sometimes enough to make me really hold my stomach for support when I emptied - dreaded peeing for a while and it only started around week two! All tests showed no UTI (I was already on so many antibiotics for an infected haematoma). Good news is I am now four and a half weeks after surgery and everything is feeling just fine, no more bladder pain
Take care, Smiffy x

Painful urination

Ohh, me too. I am so glad to see this post. Lots of pressure and some pain. Feels like someone is sticking it with a pin. My doctor told me that he "looked in my bladder". Not sure what that meant. My cervix and uterus came out through my navel so don't think he did a tuck. I think it's cranky, just like Sparklies said.

Excellent explaination of what happens. I too feel it this way and I am two weeks post op. I felt this way also after my laparoscopy before the hyst. It went away after a few days then. Since this surgery is much more intense, I feel it will take longer for this sensation to go away. So good to have this place to communicate with others about the same signs. Mr doctor is an excellent surgeon, but is very quiet about explaining the reasons why to my signs. He just keeps saying, it will go away. take care!
