My BONES hurt!
To my Hystersisters ~
I have noticed in the 2 1/2 weeks since my surgery that my sleep is very different. I believe that since I hurt so much I get into one position and then do not move. Eventually, I wake a few hours later in incredible pain. The bones in my legs and pelvis feel like they are screaming in agony. I shift them around and the pain lessens, then I find a new sleeping position. A few hours later I awake to the same situation.
Has anyone else experienced this??? Does anyone know why this occurs? Is it simply because I have not moved in a few hours? And WHY doesn't my body move and adjust while I sleep the way it used to do?

I don't have any idea why.... but yes, I have experienced similar problems with sleeping. It seems that I ache all over when I wake up, it's hard to move. Maybe our bodies just aren't used to lying so much? I don't know.. but I hope it gets better soon... for both of us!

Bones
Hi
I'm 11 weeks post op and remember the "Bone Hurt" vividly. Sometimes it seemed worse than the incision pain! Hang in there, it will subside soon. Right now your body doesn't want to shift and move like it used to, so you're stiffening up. My DH actually bought a new mattress for the bed while I was in the castle, and it made quite a difference. I was still sore, though. Good luck!

KatyBelle & GeminiJudy ~
Thank you so much for your feedback! It is reassuring to know that others have experienced the same thing! I decided to forego my extra pillows last night (one between my legs & one behind my back) and noticed that I did naturally move around a little more and didn't cramp up as badly.
I appreciate your taking the time to write!

My BONES hurt!
I'll be 2 weeks post op on Friday and while I've had *very* little pain (managed by ibuprofen since before I left the castle) sleeping has been horrible.
I was sleeping through the night, but waking in the early morning feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. Our mattress is only a couple years old and is a pillowtop and normally I find it very comfy.
After waking up one night in tears because I was so sore (my poor DH thought I needed to go back to the castle, I was in so much pain) we went to Sears and bought a featherbed. (Its like a really thick down duvet)
Last night was the first night I slept on it and all I can say is WOW! I slept so well and woke up this morning feeling great! The featherbeds arent cheap, but dramatically cheaper than a new mattress.
It allows the mattress to support you, while allowing hips and shoulders to sink and be comfy... didnt wake up with that "bruised all over" feeling today.
I highly recommend them... cant wait to go to bed tonight

My BONES hurt!
I had those pains at week two and I think you are right about not moving during the night. We had also taken the foam off the bed so I could actualy climb into bed without a step ladder. Then last weekend the foam came back on the bed and I and hubby are sleeping so much better.

I have those pains too, I guess when we do sleep it is deeply and we don't move around as much as we would normally maybe so don't redistribute the pressure.

Oh, thank you for writing! It's so GOOD to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this!!! Great idea about the featherbed, Giant Pony. I have one and will try sleeping on it.
Thanks again to everyone who kindly took the time to answer my post!

Clementine, I know that my bones hurt if my ferritin is low. Do you have any issues with anemia?

Inaminit ~ I have no idea if I'm anemic or not. Thanks for pointing that out as a possibility-- I will definitely ask my doctor about that. I have slept the last two nights without extra pillows so that I could move around more freely and have found that I'm in less pain. Thanks for responding!
