I need HELP..can opt for surgery as soon as Friday.
Hey Sisters,
I am electing to have surgery to remove my fibroids , because I have lived with them for more tha 8 years and I'm sick of them. Pre-op is scheduled for tomorrow and surgery Friday. My discomfort is bleeding heavily during period, weak after, and lower back ache. So it's not a medical emergency. I have waited and waited for menopause in the hopes that they'll shrink. Con't know if I want to wait any longer. Here's what I need to know ASAP, PLEASE.
Can I attend the pre-op and change my mind after if I don't feel good about it? I don't want to have a transfusion. It scares me too much. I only want to remove the uterus? My doctor has met with me when I decided that I would wait. I just want to know if these decisions can be made the day before surgery. Please help me.

Sweetie
This is YOUR body! My take on it is that you can change your mind up until the moment that your consent form is signed on the morning of surgery. Even if you've signed your consent days earlier, you STILL have the RIGHT (and the obligation) to call the hospital the morning of surgery and say "I'm not coming"
My advice to you is....be absolutely sure that you are doing the right thing for you! This surgery is not easy as you know, and if you're not sure about it, then you would be really smart to just postpone for awhile.
But if you are sure, then go ahead....this is a decision you must come to in your own mind.

Absolutely, you can change your mind! I totally agree with Northlights - it is totally up to you. Do what is best for you and what you are comfortable with. Good Luck.

Ditto what the other sisters have said! Make sure that you have done all the research, you totally understand what you're doing, and that you are ready to make this decision final. How long ago did you and your doc discuss this? Was this a last minute decision? If you aren't ready you could always postpone and do more research, get better prepared mentally and go back for the surgery when you feel ready. Do what's best for you, don't worry about what's best for the doctor or the hospital, you are the one who has to live with this decision!
Good luck.

Thank you sweet sisters!
I've decided that because it's not a medical emergency at this time, and I am nearing menopause ( hopfully) , that I'll postpone surgery and wait until I'm absolutely sure. I thought I was ready, but even though I have researched until I'm blue in the face, it still didn't feel right to my body.
Thanks for your support. I feel the love!
