4 weeks post-op, still swollen and hard abdomen especially around incision???

Is anyone experiencing this............... I have had a TAH- ( everything out except one ovary ) 4 weeks post - op. I still have a swollen, hard and bruised abdomen?? I never had a draining tube which I heard that others have had with this type of surgery. The incision seems fine, a little itchy. But as far as the hardness and bruising, i think it may be a hematoma or something. I have no discharge and no drainage?? I have a doc appt in 2 days but I'm starting to wonder if I might have to be spliced open again to drain or if I will be permanantly scarred with this hard lump???
If anyone knows please email me or post a reply
my email is lindmarie@uswest.net
Thanks
Linda

HI LINDA

I too had a TAH only I'm about half a week ahead of you. I had no tube either, but have had some discharge which is getting less everyday. Like you I still have a hard line under where the cut is. I think most of this is the inside stiches. On the right side however I do have a bump (about size of quarter) I hope this is a knot. Maybe one of our sisters can let us know how long (approx.) this hardness lasts and if it is normal. My dr appointment isn't until 12/5. Thanks ahead for any help. This board is wonderful and I can't say that enough. Here's to fast NO problem healing.

I had the drain tube actually 2 of them one attached to a squeeze bottle the other was not, but under my incision was hard also,. I will be 8 weeks post op on Tues and most of the hardness is gone just a small amount down low ( vertical incision).I think it just goes along with surgery.

4 weeks post-op

Hi I will be six weeks post-op Monday and I still have some swelling and tenderness. I notice after going shopping that I have more swelling and pain. I have not came back from this procedure as I had thought. I had everything out except right ovary. I too had a abdominal cut bikini one and didn't have draining tubes either. I sure hope you feel better are you resting enough? This is a major surgery and we will need time to heal. I have fought a bladder infection since my surgery can read my post all about that. I will say going into the sixth week if it were not for the bladder problems I would feel pretty good. I do get so tired and I still have a ovary so no hormones for me. I pray God will give you peace keep us posted:~)
