Increase dosage of estrogen?

I am taking .625 premarin once a day. I started about 3 weeks after ovaries were removed. I was feeling very sad and apathetic and not at all my self. Jittery and anxious too. The premarin really helped.

Now at 6 1/2 weeks I am feeling a little anxious again and apathetic.

Is it possible that my body needed estrogen so bad it reacted positively at first to the .625 dose but now I need more? Do you build up tolerance?

I see my dr tues so I will see what he thinks but I wanted to her from others who may have experienced the same thing.

thanks!

Increase dosage of estrogen?

Hi woodsie

It's not unusual for our hormone needs to change---especially (in my experience) during the initial months following surgery.

When we are newly post-op it's common for our bodies to still have their own stores of estrogen---which gradually deplete over the first month or two. So it could be that the estrogen your body still had, along with starting the Premarin, really gave you the boost you needed at first...and now as your natural levels are lower, the current dose of Premarin may not be quite enough.

Let us know how it goes at your doctor appt.
