Steri-strips

I'm 2 weeks post-op today, TAH/BSO. These steri-strips are all still in place! I thought they would have come off by now, but they're stuck tight, like maybe they've grown to me! My check-up is in 2 days and now I'm wondering how bad it's gonna hurt if she pulls them off? I mean, the hair's growing back....yikes! Or do they just leave them on there till they fall off? Anybody know?

Thanks,
Mimi

HI!

Mine fell off about the 2-week mark, don't worry my DR just looked at them, he didn't pull them off.

My Dr. told me if they hadn't come off by the 1 week mark to take them off. Well Friday was the one week mark and they showed no signs of budging so I waited until Saturday evening while hubby and kids were outside and laid down on the couch to see how bad this was going to be. It was a piece of cake. To me it was less painful than pulling off a band-aid.

My Dr. also told me to remove myself after 1 week, which i did. Didn't hurt at all. Maybe you should do it right after a shower when the strips are damp.

It doesn't hurt that bad. I took my own off. My dr told me to get them off so I could heal. It might pull a little but mostly the area is still to numb to feel too much off it. The staples hurt worse if that is what you had.

My doc said they would fall off naturally in their own time. My hair is actually growing through them which can sometimes be uncomfortable. I only shower every other day so figure that's why their still on. Quite a few are ready to fall off, but I'm not going to pull them off. I have no beauty contest to go to so couldn't care less if they are on or off. LOL

My 2 week mark is tomorrow. My DR told me last week that sometime THIS week, to soak in a tub and take them off. So my guess is the water will help. I hope so cause they haven't begun to peel at all!

My doc removed them at my first follow-up. They didn't hurt, but one did pull a single hair. Then, he cleaned the gooey glue off of me with an alcohol wipe and made sure my incision was healing properly. I showered nearly every day after I got home from the Castle, so I don't know what I could have done to encourage them to loosen more - doc told me not to pull them off unless they got loose on their own.

My doctor told me to take them off after 1 week. The nurses told me they would fall off on their own. After 1 week they were all still attached. I took them off in the shower. I was nervous but all went well...:whew Everything will be fine

Thanks for your replies. A couple on one end were looking pretty loosely attached so I "helped" them along and it looks like things are healing nicely underneath!
