it feels good to complain about swelly belly

Hi everyone,

I have been watching the post op board for the last 4 weeks and one topic that comes up over and over and over is "SWELLY BELLY". No matter how much everyone says they have the same problem it still does not console me at 3:30 PM in the afternoon when my stomach is BIGGER than a house and I feel like I am carrying a six month pregnancy. I will be 5 weeks post op on Friday and I look as horrendous as the day I came home from the hospital. It sure feels good to complain!! If I have one more person say to me ( who has had a hyst ) that they never had that problem I will scream. What I can not figure out is how come this swelling goes all the way to my boobs?? Holy smokes. Actually I am sitting here laughing since the whole thing is so pathetic. OK I am done complaing now!!

have a great day everyone!!!

Hey, I know what you mean about that belly. My husband took a picture of me and all I could see before destroying it, was that belly. Will it ever go away?

I am five weeks post, too.

swelly belly

TAH 6-14-04 KEPT BOTH OVARIES. I HATE MY SWELLY BELLY. I HAVE A FAMILY PARTY THIS WEEKEND AND I KNOW THERE WILL BE PICTURES TAKEN WHICH I INTTEND TO AVOID BECAUSE OF MY BELLY. I TOLD MY FRIEND THAT IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A CAVE UNDER MY BELLY. AS IF THE FAT WAS AFFRAID TO GO BEYOND THE DROP OFF. I FEEL LIKE I'M WEARING DEPENDS OR DOMETHING. I'M MUCH TOO YOUNG TO FEEL THIS OLD I KNOW I'M HATE HEARING "WELL THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO ME" I JUST HAVE TO FIND SOMETHING FUNNY TO SAY BACK. KARRI

it feels good to complain about swelly belly

I'm very close to being 3 months post-op and still have my swelly belly. It's not as bad as it was the first month after surgery, but it's taking it's sweet time deflating. I walk, bike a little, watch what I eat. Afraid to do any agressive exercise like situps because it's way to early (for me anyway) to do that. UGH. I'd be very happy if it went away.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I am sooooo sick of this shelf I have hanging from my tummy. I am sporting the "sponge bob square pants' look. I am now square!!! Before surgery (june 2) I worked out almost every day and actually had an ALMOST flat tummy. It took a lot to work out so hard but I did it and now I am just gaining a little weight and feeling very depressed. I just look so ... deformed!! My doctor said it would take a lot of sit ups but I may be a monster sponge bob by the time I can do sit ups. oh well...square is a shape right?

I guess we all just have to hang in there and try to remember how bad we felt before surgery. This too will pass.

Would just like to say that after I had my two dd's I would
NEVER have to worry about part of my stomach resting on
my lap again.
WOW who knew, and like you , no one who had this before
us, knew!!!!
THanks for letting me vent
