Bladder lift ??'s

Hi, Brand new here. A friend went to the trouble of finding me this site because of the problems I am having. I was wondering if anyone had a bladder lift along with their hysterectomy? I am healing fine except for this bladder problem. I am so frustrated with not being able to pee on my own and having to cath myself.
I could use some advice. Do I drink tons of liquid to force myself to constantly pee? When I do drink I am going to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes and only peeing 50-100 cc each time. In a five hour period I had 30 oz of liquid, went pee 9 times which totaled 750 cc and then cath myself and got 375 cc. I know it will take time but this is driving me crazy. If anyone can help, please respond. Thanks KZ

Bladder lift ??'s

I went home without the catheter and peeing wasn't easy. I drank a lot and went every 1/2 hour for 2 days. After that it get better and I could go longer periods without having to go & having more come out. The doctor told me to have patience, that my bladder is swollen & in shock and has to remember how to do it's job again.

Bladder lift ??'s

Hi KZ55
I'm new here also. I had a bladder suspention with my sugery too. I had a freind who also had the same proceedure. I find I am doing better than she had thankfully! It only took me a week to get ride of the cathiter. But it took her a month. However I'm not sure it did the job I still feel I'm losing a little bit of bladder control when I have to go badly. I sometimes even have urgency and leakage shortly after I have just gone. Hopefully this will settel down when the swelling does.
Hang in there!

How long does swelling last

This is my 5th day and everything is still the same. I pee several times small amounts and then cath . Sometimes when I go it hurts as if I have a bladder infection. Last night as an example, the pain was miserable. I peed 11 times in six hours which added up to 775 cc and cath 450. I feel asleep and never peed through the night, woke at 5:45, peed 100 cc and cath 325. This morning it did not hurt to go but now it is starting again. I am waiting to hear from my doctor.
My OBGYN doc is the one advising me. My dad said he wants me to see a Urologist. My dad says it is taking to long and that my OBGYN doc shouldnt be seeing me.
I also notice that when I squeeze to stop the pee instead I urinate. and visa versa, when I push nothing happens.
I too found that I have no control when I have to go, I go. I thought this proceedure was to correct that problem. I am so frustrated. Thanks for listening and any others that have similar experience let me know. Is this realy part of it? I think something is wrong. KZ55

Bladder lift ??'s

Hi KZ55
Sorry your not feeling better yet! I did have a urologist do the bladder lift part of my TAH. If you keep having trouble it wouldn't hurt to see one. However I seem to be doing much better. I think swelling has alot to do with it. Of course don't go by me ask your doctor. But I heard if you cath to often you will just continue to aggrivate the area. You just need to let everything work on it's own. Just drink moderate amounts of liquid and only cath if you are having pain or it's been whatever amount of lapsed time your doctor recommends and you haven't gone at all. What with the swelling and all it will take time.
In no time this will just be a memory.
Good luck Jeannie

udate Thursday

Went to the doctor today and he said I am doing great. Self cathing will be determined by me. I have kept a log and as long as I am keeping up with the same routime I will be able to cath less. I am still very sore, tender touch and feel sharp pains shoot through the area, but he said that my nerves are healing and that I looked good. Even though I feel like someone has taken a razor blade to the area and it burns and sometimes itches, he could not find any indication of a rash. So each day is a new day and I will keep the faith. thanks to everyone that replied and gave me their support. kz55
