I had a TAH last year and recently went for my one year checkup and was told that I had a vaginal nodule at the top of my vagina. The doctor told me that this can be removed through a minor surgery if it bothers me. I need to know what the symptoms are of this to know if it's bothering me. Has anyone been through this?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY. I HAD MY HYSTERECTOMY BECAUSE OF FIBROIDS. THE DR. DIDN'T TELL ME WHY I HAVE THE NODULE, I WAS THINKING THAT IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE SCAR TISSUE. I SHOULD OF BEEN MORE INQUISITIVE ABOUT THIS, BUT WHEN YOU'RE AT THE OFFICE EVERYTHING IS RUSHED. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY ARTICLES PERTAINING TO THIS. MAYBE IT'S SOMETHING THAT COULD BE FROM ANY INTERNAL SURGICAL PROCEDURE.
THANK YOU. MARYELLEN79
Hi (((MaryEllen))) I'm so sorry you're dealing with this issue, such a long since your surgery
While I've never had to deal with a vaginal nodule, I do have a nodule under my left arm, very close to the breast and ended up having a mammography, just to be on the safe side: turned out to be just that... a benign nodule
I just did a bit of reserach on vaginal nodules and found this article: http://www.eurorad.org/case.cfm?uid=662. It explains what a vaginal nodule is (fibrous tissues), what the rates of occurance are (+/- 300 cases since 1733... that makes it a really, really rare condition!!!) and what the symptoms of a problematic nodule are.
One thing to note, is that it seems that these nodules are almost always benign and inoffensive.
Sending lots of s your way. Please keep us posted.
