No Mood Swings almost 4 wks Post

Ok, I know this is going to sound strange, BUT . . . I will be 4 weeks post this Friday (TAH/BSO). I have experienced some slight hot flashes/night sweats, but no mood swings, emotional disturbances. In fact, I seem to be more balanced than BEFORE surgery.

I don't mean to complain about a good thing, and that's not what I'm doing. I'm just wondering if it is going to SPROING out at me all of a sudden and be really horrific??

When is it normal to start feeling the rollercoaster/see-saw effect? If I'm not feeling it by now, can I expect to feel it later? I'm not on any HRT, and probably won't BE on any due to severe endo.

I'm almost wondering if my ovaries had basically shut down prior to surgery, as they were enveloped in huge cysts.

I'm like you. No mood swings; but you could heat the Antarctic with my occasional hot flashes. I wonder how many BTU's I'm putting out!

I got to keep the ovaries though. Wonder what all that's about!

hmm..Esme,..I was wondering the same thing myself. I will be four weeks post op tomarrow..can that BE? already? who woulda thunk THAT day would come?
ANYWAY, I am quite crabby today <G> but there have been NO mood swings, and in fact, much like what you said, I think I"ve been much, much mellower than normal. An amazing feat, imho, considering the smack of getting diagnosed with ovarian cancer and starting chemo in the midst of this hysterectomy recovery.

I'd be quite interested in hearing what others think about the 'shut down ovaries' theory. at least one of my ovaries was enveloped in a very large tumor....I think your theory sounds very plausible. VEEERRRY interesting.
I wonder what percentage of total hysterectomy patients NEVER need hormone replacement?? I admit to being totally in the dark in THAT area.

No Mood Swings almost 4 wks Post

Hi Esme! I'm 3 wks post op today. My symptoms so far haven't been too bad. Very few nightsweats, just a few daily flashes, and as for mood swings, well they're not as bad as I thought they would be. Although, the last 2 days I have felt angry, though I'm not sure why. My DH kept asking me if I was mad. I feel better today. I'm not on any HRT either, and I thought this was going to be way worse than was it's been. I keep feeling as though it's just going to suddenly unleash a monster on me.

No Mood Swings almost 4 wks Post

I'm right at 3 weeks today post TAH/BSO but I AM on Premarin. So far no symptoms of any kind, not even hot flashes. From what I've read on this board even the sisters on HRT are having a few symptoms. I asked my doctor at my 2 week and she said if I haven't had a problem yet, I probably won't have one, at least in any major way. I, too, feel like my emotions are more stable now than for many years before.

Counting my blessings,
Mimi

No Mood Swings almost 4 wks Post

I am just about 6 weeks post-op and I was very mellow until just recently. I actually posted a thread on my emotional rollercoaster that I am riding now.

Isn't that nice? I was basically great until the week before I go back to work.

Right now I can cry at the drop of a hat or fly off the handle with rage (just feeling, no acting on it). I can't STAND it.
