I had something similar. Two weeks before my surgery, one of the fibroids that was on a stalk on the outside of my uterus twisted around and died. It ended up breaking off and my doctor found it floating around in my abdomen. I had extreme pain and bleeding from my fibroids, especially after the one broke off.
I believe when they start to disintegrate, they can cause increased bleeding due to the blood flow being compromised.
I had cramping so bad at times from my fibroid, which had been trying to "abort," that I would end up curled up on my bed crying, praying to God to make the pain stop. I would often become sick to my stomach from the pain. I also bled pretty much constantly from some time in June until I had it removed in September. The bleeding was severe, I flooded most of the time, the blood just poured out of me like a faucet.
Ouch! I have been there also. This is the second round of fibroids for me.
1st round in '96 before surgery were shrunk from softball size with Lupron...Horrible in more ways than one.
This time, they are so terribly numerous of all types and the pain is so bad it actually made me cry. I remember cramps years ago that would double me up and make me cry, too...cold sweat all over my body.
I have several now near the cervix and YOUCH. It feels like when I miscarried and that is certainly no picnic.
Tomorrow is my day ladies. I look forward to it with great anticipation and know that I will never look back and regret this decision. There is basically nothing left of my uterus now.... it has been battered beyond belief.
Sad to know so many women have to go through this, but oddly comforting that we can share.
