Saw Urologist poss. Interstitial Cystitis??never had problem before hyst. help!!

Went to urologist and now have to have a Cystocopy on Friday and I'm scared never having bladder problems before how in the world did I end up with possible IC?? Have any of you felt this? I'm six weeks post-op and still having pain when I urinate and bladder pain especially at night it's like my bladder cannot settle down. Waiting on culture again, he in and out cath. this time to get a good culture. Have any had the cystoscopy? I'm afraid to do that as well dread going back to sleep!!!I'm so nervous and worried. Thanks for listening to me.

Hi,
I'm very familiar with IC.I have battled this problem for several years.I have had several outpatient surgeries to clear my bladder of infection and inflamation.
As for the cystocopy,it is not really a painful test just uncomfortable.(the pain is usually dependant on how irritated your bladder is at the time).
Some doctors use a numbing medicine on a cotton swab and insert it for a few minutes before the test.you may want to ask your doctor about this ahead of time to help you be a little bit numb and it may help you be more comfortable.
I am praying for you as I know how painful this problem can be,I had a really hard time with my bladder after surgery and needed strong ant.shots for days to get it under control. The problem lasted for about 4 weeks.
Now at 7 wks post op I feel much better, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Blessings,Tonya

Cystoscopy tomorrow

Hi Tonya,
I will let you know what they find. I will be going under anesthesia for my scope as he is doing bladder distention as well. I'm nervous but ready for answers. I feel so badly for you with dealing with IC how painful and uncomfortable to live like that. I never had bladder problems before this has been a shock to me I never expected this at all! I'm trusting God that we get a good report after my procedure tomorrow :~) I will keep you pisted.
We are sisters in Gods love:~)
