5 days post op and sore

I am 27 years old and 5 days post op of a TAH due to endo and constant contracting of the uterus, with painful and heavy periods. 3 days post op I "seriously" thought hey this isn't so bad and decided to clean my closet. Boy was I wrong!! I now am looking forward to my extra appt w/the doc tommorow due to this stupidity. He thinks I could have caused tearing of stiches or possible bleeding. Was put on percocet for pain but even 3 at a time is barely dulling it. Just a wake up call that when your doc says sit and do nothing they do not mean sit for a while, then work then sit again. It means sit until you leave a permanent indent in the sofa! Hope this gives some of you some insight of WHAT NOT TO DO! I just thought I'm young I have a 2 year old there's not much I can't handle! God proved me wrong once again!

5 days post op and sore

Sweetie... I am not too good at it either, and I am only 29 with three kids... but rest is essential for recovery... In order for you to fully recover, your body needs rest, and lots of TLC! I am not quite two weeks post op yet, and am still limiting my daily activities some... I probably do alot more than I am supposed to, but listen to your doc and more importantly to your BODY! Remember, drink lots of water, and get lots of rest.... Watch all those old movies you never have time for anymore.... Diana

one week post op

Clean a closet ??

I had relatives from FLorida in for a few hours to look at old family photos for the family tree. We just were sitting around the dining room table Sorting and ID so she could photograph them for the website.

When I went to get up my catheter tube was very bloody and I had such pain left and right of the insicion. They left so quickly and forgot to put the chairs away so my living room is a mess.

I did what a good princess should do I had some pain pills, a large glass of water or two and a rest. I had Chinese food delivered but drank too much Coke. Time for more pills and bed.

I'm calling in a good friend who will do anything for me to help put everything back. Tomorrow's main activity is to do the dishes. Changing the cat's water is a phone a friend job.

Take it easy.

5 days post op and sore

Hi sisters,
I am 3 weeks post op (today - desperately trying to put some distance between the op date).

One of the themes on this site is that generally we women are 'doers' we are always on the go, going things. It is very difficult for us to sit still.

I definately do too much (and pay for it). The general advice is, very light housework. So, for example, you CAN wash the pots - but do not put them away (or in the dishwasher) as there is too much bending or stretching.

You can dust, and you can wipe the sink/work surfaces. For the 1st week, I would say that is it. Everything else can wait.

I did not rest once I got out of hospital, and at 3 weeks have been suffering a lot of pain for the last 10 days. I now go to bed each afternoon for 2 hours (kills me, as I feel as if I should be doing something). I either read, rest my eyes (can only do this for about 2 minutes) or watch a film. Doing this makes sure that you body is getting some extra 'mending' time.

I wish you all well
hugs
Lorreine
