Seeing GYN On Monday... Input Needed

I see the GYN on monday to talk about the past 3 months on Lupron and figure out what is next for treatment. The lupron has helped... April 13 days of pain, May had 11 days of pain, June I had 8 days of pain and 4 days in July. The way the NP talked my next steps where either do nothing, take BP's, or take BP's and do pain managment. When the GYN stuck me on lupron he said if it helped then he would remove the ovaries, seein that I have bladder pain, cycst and endo. Truthfully I am hoping the GYN sticks to his orginal plans.

Just woundering has any sisters here taken BP's for endo? Did it help? How long did it take to help? Is it a long term way of dealing with the pain?

I have been keeping a pain diary which the NP has a copy of as well as I will be bringing a copy. I also plan on letting him know who this pain is drasticly affecting my life and my job. I would appreciate any suggestions or questions one may thing I may want to aske my GYN. I want to be prepared for this visit as much as possible.

Thanks!

(((Kim)))) It really sounds like the Lupron was the right thing for you

I do not have experience with endo, so have no clue if this means that the planned oopherectomy is the way to go. Hopefully, someone will come along, soon, to share some insight on the issue.

It does sound like doing all the right things by noting your pain and symptoms: you're prepared for your visit, and that should help getting through this.

Sending lots of s your way, and hoping that you are on your way to a healthier you.

Me too!

I have an appointment with my Gyn on Monday too, for the same reason. I have been on the Lupron for 4 1/2 months and have gotten relief from the endo/ovarian issues. My problems is that the Lupron is making me swell...severely...at this point and I still have 6 weeks before this shot wears off. I, too, am hoping that my gyn sticks to her plans to remove my ovary since the Lupron has helped.

I took BCPs prior to the Lupron for the endo/ovarian issues. They helped in the beginning but then made matters worse.

Good luck to you. Please let us know what your Gyn has to say. I'm very interested.

BillsSweetie68,

Intersteing how we both have an appointment on Monday for the same reasons. I sure hope both of your doctors stick to there original plans and remove the ovaries. The lupron has helped me as well. I have to admit I am afraid to try the bp's. I am afraid it might make it worce and right now I can't deal with worce only better my job is at risk if I don't get this under control soon.

I will let you know what my GYN says on Monday. Please keep me posted as well as to how your appointment goes.

Dany thanks for the

Seeing GYN On Monday... Input Needed

My first surgery they removed my left ovary and left tube - they were not sure what they were going to find once they opened me up. I ended up having stage IV endo. I was then put on lupron for 6 months, a year later, another surgery (endometrioma), another 6 months of lupron, one month later, RSO/TAH, 7 months later another surgery - almost a year to the day and I am finally feeling fantastic - NO PAIN!! I lived on percocet for almost 2 years. The lupron worked fantastic - dryed up alot of the endo, I did have hot flashes, night sweats and mood swings but to me it was worth it. I don't take any HRT at all. But ladies even though I have had a TAH, endo can still come back, but I am hoping not. After 4 surgeries in 2 1/2 years I still have swelly belly and am beginning to think it will never go down.

For me removing my ovaries was the best thing health wise, being childless is another issue that I still have to come to terms with.

Kim,

I'm nervous too! 3 1/2 hours and counting. DBF had to work today so, I'm having to go it alone. But, we dicussed it this weekend and agree that the ovary needs to go ASAP. I don't want the pain coming back when this shot wears off! (I was 2 weeks late getting my second shot and was already starting to feel that same 'ole cyclic b.s.) We'll see if I can get the gyn to stick to her earlier comments and agree. Good luck to you! I've got my fingers crossed for you. Let me know how it goes!

Seeing GYN On Monday... Input Needed

Well back from the GYN and DH was able to come too!!! Here is the scope of where I stand at this point.

He wants to do 2 to 3 more months of lupron. Since the lupron has helped some what he is hoping that doing 2 months of lupron having me take a month off will give us some sort of clue how my body is going to react. Thought process being that if 3 months helped maybe more can kill off the yucky endo. In After my second shot I will see him explore how things have gone. If pain is the same not any better ovaries come out suspecting that it is endo that is being stubburn. If pain gets better stays the same same we do another shot of lupron. If pain is better after third shot but not completely gone we remove the ovaries, if pain is all gone I guess I am cured....

Ugh... Don't know what to think right now. I know even if I wanted to do the surgery right now I would have to wait, because I beleive we only get 12 weeks of pain time off per year for surgerys & things like that and I used 6 weeks up when I had my LAVH so I have to wait until Oct. anyway.

He also put me on Zoloft said it can help with pain and all the stress my work is putting on me as well as gave me more vicoden and told me yes I can take the vicoden at work as long as I don't take it 4hrs before I am going to drive home. He said there is nothing my work can do with me taking pain pills at work they are a precription.

So that is were I stand right now.

I faired just about the same

Just wanted to pop in and say that I faired basically the same as you, Kim. I am "tentatively" going to have a RSO in mid October. She wantes me to complete this course of Lupron (6 weeks left on this shot) and then take the bcp (Yasmin) for a month. She said that she would feel comfortable doing the RSO if I still felt it necessary at that point.

I guess I'm a bit bummed because I don't want to wait until I'm in pain again to have to do this, but what do you do?

I agree... I kind of wanted to get thoose buggers out of me as soon as possible. But my GYN was so sincere. He stated if it was his mom, sister, aunt, wife he would want them to do 5/6 months of lupron first.

On a side note he said when I stop taking the lupron if the pain comes back we trully know it is endo and that removing the ovaries is the right plan of treatment...

So It looks like I could be possible having both them removed in 3 to 4 months as well. He also reminded me that removing the ovaries will only give me an 80% chance of having no further endo pain or endo returning.

I think we can really use each others support through the next few months. Please feel free to pm me anytime!

Kim
