Belly Button incision

I had an LAVH/BSO on June 24, 2004. Have not had any problems with my incisions healing until yesterday. The incision in my belly button got really red and extremely painful. It is so sensitive that even the sheets when they rub against it causes pain. Today I noticed a slight amount of blood and fluid coming from the incision. Is two weeks post op too late to have an infection or could i be overdoing it?

Any advice is welcome!

Belly Button incision

I too just had surgery on 6/28. I am healing slowly. My belly bottom does hurt. I believe you should call your doctor and tell him or her about your situation. My doctor told me any infection or extreme pain for me to call him. Take care.

You should call your doctor - I think they need to examine your incision - it is possible you could have an infection. It's always best to be on the safe side.

Belly Button incision

When I had my last laparoscopy in February I did develop an infection in my belly button incision. I ended up taking 3 different antibiotics, and it took 8 WEEKS to clear up.

Please call your doc. The sooner you start to treat an infection, the better the chance it will clear up quickly.

calling the doc

I called the doc on a Sunday because my incision, including the belly button one from the tummy tuck, got really red all around it. And it hurt, and parts of one incision had some discharge. He wanted to see me the next day, even though it was a 4 hours drive round trip. He gave me antibiotics and instructions for cleaning it.

You should call, my doc said he was very glad I did, and he was very worried that I come in quickly.

Belly Button incision

I had a full hyster June 12, 2003. I was going in for a partial hyster and ended up with a full hyster. The operation was suppose to be a regular 2.5 hour surgery. It ended up being almost six hours. She told me after I woke up that she had to do a full hyster because othe endometrosis. Then, I had a relapse from the surgery. The pain was awful. I think they left a stitch in my incision. The pain was so bad, I could not walk. My husband had to literally pick me up to take me down the stairs to take me to the emergency room. They put me back in the hospital for another four or five days. They wanted to go back in to see what was going on. I could not bare to take anymore pain. I thought I was going to die.

After my six weeks was up, my belly button was discharging heavily. I refused to go back to that GNY. I have suffered for almost a year. I found another gyn and she wants to go in and cut to see why the incision was not healing. I thought this was going to be an easy surgery. It is very difficult. I am still having flash backs.

Why is it that my stomach has rolls. I did not have them before I had the surgery?
