No Cervix. Sex, and Vaginal Discharge

Calling all sans-cervix sisters who are cleared for sex!

I am getting very concerned about my ability to be properly lubricated for sex.

I used to have some clear vaginal discharge pretty much every day when I wasn't bleeding. It all seems pretty dry down there now, and I'm probably just being a worry-wart, but would love some reassurance/advice.

I am thinking of reading a naughty book and seeing how my body reacts - DSO isn't really great with the foreplay, so I am thinking we will have to work on that.

Any recommendations for a sexy book that isn't too raunchy? I'm not into video stuff.

Esme,

You should cross-post this in either the hormone jungle/natural section since you have had a BSO. I didn't notice if you were taking HRT or not.

Vaginal dryness is very common. I experienced this during a chemically-induced menopause in 1996 before my Myomectomy.

I wish I could help you with the book, but I have been thinking about watching a video to see what my body does....I have kept my ovaries though....I just want to test the "chassis" before my husband gets to it later on.....

Keep in mind that I am just 6 days post op still and feeling pretty lousy, but my mind is still in fast-forward gear!!! Hehehehehe.....

Good luck!

dryness

I don't know of any books, but since I am older I have had some of that problem before surgery.
For me it helped to get some non-vaseline lubrication over the counter at the drug store-your doc or nurse can recommend what is good. Like k-y jelly or something.

My ob/gyn said before surgery that my vaginal walls were very good and not showing any sign of menopause though, so maybe there has to be more lubrication than that.
I would suggest not trying to go it without any-it needs to be well lubricated to protect the vaginal walls.

There is a book that isn't too raunchy called "The Joy of Sex" there might be a second volume that has come out recently.

Your doc might have some good written information also.

No Cervix. Sex, and Vaginal Discharge

I wondered this myself before surgery. I posted a question here about where lubrication comes from. What I found out from reading online, and personal experience(no cervix, been cleared for sex for almost 2 months now) was that the lubrication comes from the vaginal walls. Having, or not having a cervix does NOT affect that. HOWEVER... I was left with an ovary which did not seem to go into shock, and my understanding is that lack of lubrication would result from not having ovaries. I was so worried about being able to lubricate that I.. ummm.. self-explored externally a few times before the 8 week mark. It got better as I got less worried.
So, I guess what I am saying is that if you do experience dryness, it would most likely be from no ovaries, not from loss of cervix.
On a good note, though.. I've not had any form of discharge since surgery. I assume thats because I have no cervix. i could be wrong though.

I worried about this before my Hyster. We were able "to" a couple days ago.

Happily to my surprise I was A-OK.

It was better then I think it's ever been. I now know what I have been missing!!! I was prepared with lubrication on the night table....but didn't need it.

Just back from my 6 1/2 week final checkup and doc wrote me a scrip for Vagifem...as she said I was "dry." These get inserted into vagina twice a week...

My good friend at work who had TAH/BSO said she uses Vagifem and that it is excellent.

I think I'd better go find that book - LOL. You gals have got me curious! I had a "spontaneous" O at 12 days, and it hurt, so I'm a little
