bio identical hormones

Hi, two weeks ago I had a TAH and BSO. Before this I had Polycystic ovarian syndrome. I started menopause symptoms when I was 26. They gave me the estrogen patch the day of surgery and the first week was great (except for the fact I just had surgery and all that goes with that) I had no night sweats and slept through the night. It was a Climara .1mg. My insurance gave me this generic thing that is the size of a stop sign and is made of thick foam its Estradoil by Mylan. Within a day the night sweats were back and the thing kept falling off in the shower or during the night. I would put a new one and it would last a day and then fall off. My doctor gave me samples of the Climara and now I'm doing well again. I slept 7 hours straight last night! I was telling my friend about all of this and she said she saw something on a morning show about bio identical hormones and that its better. Does anyone take this type of hormones?

bio identical hormones

Hi!

Yes, lots of us do, including you! Terms can be confusing and I wonder if maybe your friend saw something about compounded bio-identical hormones?

Here's a link to an article about bio-idential estrogens and another about compounded estrogens.

If you are doing well with your Climara, I'd vote for sticking with it!

bio identical hormones

Hi again!

You might need them, you might not. You're very early into your recovery so right now I'd be more concerned about keeping the estrogen levels balanced and add in later if you're having problems.

Thanks so much. I've never been into chat rooms or message boards but this has been so helpful. I saw it before my surgery but didn't realize how helpful it could be. It would have been great when I was deciding to go with a spinal or general or when I was crying in pain with constipation! Oh well I have found pool of wisdom now thank God!
