femring

My patches quit sticking, got the insurance to let me have more for a month supply, going through 1 patch a day. This is crazy!! I feel like all I can do is cry! Called the Dr yesterday, she said that I was a good canidate for the Femring. Picked it up last night. I've got some mild cramping. Anyone else using this that can give me some info??
Thanks,

femring

I have been using Femring for almost a year now. I love the fact that you insert it and then forget about it for 3 months. It works really well for me, not more night sweats, hot flushes and I'm sleeping better. The only thing I experience when I first put it in is some mild vertigo and I'm not even sure if that's related to the Femring.

Good Luck, Jo

femring

I lasted three days on the femring. It made me feel horrid, just like PMS. The up side of this is that it really showed me how very very much better I've been feeling since my hyst/BSO. I can't believe I used to endure that every month!

I think this was just due to too much estrogen--I seem to be doing best on a very low oral dose.

femring

My vertigo last a couple of days and usually doesn't start until a couple of days after inserting the new femring. I am going to keep a closer watch next time and see if it happens again.

Good Luck!

I hate to sound naive........but can y'all tell me what a femring is? My doctor never even mentioned it when we discussed pill v's patch.

If you look in the info on femring, it has a "dosing curve" that shows we get quite a lot of estrogen in the initial hour, then it slacks off. My doc told me the tests on it showed it would last 5-6 mos, so that's why they recommend changing it at 3 mos - just to be sure that you won't run low on it.
